'10ers Check-In/Proving Ground (UG Initiations)

THIS IS NOT A '10ER.

NonstopRocker03 - I always heard Rogan mention this forum so I decided to sign up one day.

shrugs

THIS '10ER HAS A TIME MACHINE AND HAS BECOME, IMO, A PRE-'10ER.

I joined because Diego Sanchez mentioned the 17 yr old kids on MMA.TV were the future of the sport.

^ He is also the GOAT.

WHERE THE '10ERS AT?

Really I had always enjoyed MMA but by no means followed it until recently. I had always been interested in Martial Arts and was looking for a way to get in shape and learn to kick ass so I walked into my gym one day about a year ago and the rest is history. I now train BJJ 3 days a week and I try to hit a boxing/kickboxing class at least once a week. I am a white belt with one stripe so far. I think I chose a gym with pretty good lineage. The 2 head instructors are brown belts under Royce (received blue, purple, and brown under Royce) but we are officially under John Crouch out of The Lab in AZ. FTR word is my head instructor is receiving his black early next year so soon.

So yeah, I am trying yo catch up on all of the MMA stuff as I am a late started. I will say that it seems most watch fighting and then decide to go trane. I started training and then really started to appreciate the fighting aspect. My goals right now are to lose a lot of weight and start competing regularly in BJJ tourney's. I don't think any MMA bouts are in my future at this point but I am not ruling anything out.

So yeah, flame away.

Oh and I realize that I made all sorts of stupid errors in my last post but I am not even going to try editing it as this site makes it impossible to edit unless you pay the. Fucking racket.

LOL "The Griphouse" Sounds like a typical scotch team to me. 50 a month sounds pretty good, what is that, 75 in real money?

"Schotten Preise" may derive from the 15th century when many Scots lived in German-populated areas of the Baltic and are believed to have offered goods at competitive prices.
David McAllister, leader of Germany's governing Christian Democratic Union party, who is of Scottish descent, warned it would take years before Germans dispense with the stereotype of Scots as skinflints.
He said: "Germans are generally careful not to employ national stereotypes. But there seems to be one nation exempt from that, and that's Scotland."
Geizkragen, one of the country's most popular price-comparison websites, uses adverts featuring a Scot wearing a kilt and tartan hat chasing coins and advising Germans how to save money.
Travel agents regularly advertise "Schotten Preise" for bargains and last year the ADAC, a German motoring club, sent an email to 15 million customers featuring a kilt-wearing Scot pushing his car to save petrol.
Oliver Flaskamper, who founded Geizkragen, said the mean Scot on his website was intended to be endearing.

Someone said I should sign up and look for a 'Matt Battle'. Anybody have a link to his profile?

Matt Battle

I'm a 10, or so my girlfriend says. I was born October 10th.

Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual. But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you-uns. I mean, it's not just the gis. It's the stories that you tell. So much fun and imagination.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I'm gonna volunteer my leadership to this forum. An UG without leaders is like a foot without a big toe. And Kirik isn't always gonna be here to be that big toe for us. I think that we owe a big round of applause to our newest, bestest buddy, and big toe... Kirik Jenness.

My name is Melv and I'm a mudnamer 10er that's been lurking this site since 07 but balled up to get an account now! Phone Post

I joined because after beginning training i realized how much time and energy fighters and those who train spend to even just keep from getting left behind.
This is the purest sport and this is the best forum. Don't post tho since most of my time is spent skippin through troll posts to get to the good shit.
To all the martial artists on this forum thank you for the hard work and inspiration. Now i'll sink into the background for a few weeks.

I got into UFC after getting into K-1 through boxing.  Cro-Cop was THE reason I started watching PrideFC (and I will STILL pay to see him fight, and I will probably NEVER admit that he will never be the same fighter, deal with it).  So, started watching PrideFC & UFC a few years before TUF.

I had heard JR mention "the underground" a ton of times but never thought I was a "forum" person.  Eventually Rogan plugged the UG so much that I felt forced to check it out.  I lurked for about 6 mo to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into and so I didn't make myself look TOO much like a jackass TUF tenor n00b.  I always wanted to train but never had the money and didn't want to fuck my face up (it wasn't until I more recently that I learned that you don't really get fucked up in training..."really" being the operative word in that sentence).  I'm working on getting funds together to join a gym either around my house (Team Ground Control in Baltimore, MD) or around my current job (Baltimore Fight Club in Owings Mills, MD).  After a free training session, I decided I'd never felt that good in my entire life, and it was something I NEEDED to do.

Since being here, I have fell in love with the UG, and through the UG have been donated a Gi so I can train (AMAZING as I can't afford one!) AND have been now given an unpaid position at thegarv.com for some writing.  I do plan on being a "movie star", and hope to continue to post as my career develops.

I became a fan of MMA at UFC 100, right after watching it I enrolled at the nearest legit jiu jitsu school around. Which was luckily 2 minutes away from my house. I now trane UFC and spend alot of time studying and breaking down fights. I keep track of all the main shows, UFC, SF, Dream, K1, and sometimes bellator. I also have gone back and watched all the significant pride fights. I try to be the best 10er I can for my fellow UGers.

MAIL MAN - TYPE MORE TO UNTEN YOURSELF.

Background, eh? Guess you can't handle the UG's pace...
