Adderall XR 20mg is also helping me tremendously.
I wish it was more effective at cutting my weight. Maybe I should wrestle something.
You will soon feel the urge to type on every thread...
Can you get it at online pharmacies? I want some but don't want (pretending to have) ADHD to go on my medical record.
Good question...anyone know of a decent website?
You can't get it from online pharmacies; it's scheduled.
Let's not eat and have sex.
JBraswell is correct. You can get phentermine which is similar, but not as good.
Littleguy: do you get it from your doctor? if so, for what reason did he prescribe it? i need something like that, but my doc keeps saying no.
I've been on Ritalin SR for over 3 years now...I like it enough to stick with it, and I'll be taking a pill right about now so if any one has any questions, they'll be answered with focused determination.
^ yes...how tf do you get docs to prescribe this. i have been begging for years...still nada.
i spend 9 hours per day at work and accomplish approximately 30 minutes of actual work.
So, do you actually have ADD? Its fine either way, just that there are different approaches.
1) I was diagnosed with ADD as a 5 year old but my parents instead of medicating me stopped giving me sugar and it worked. But when as a junior in college, I went to a counselor and complained bitterly about how being unable to focus was something I could handle in high school but not in college, it didnt take long before a psychiatrist was happily prescribing Ritalin to me. Since then, when I move some place all I have to do is transfer the prescription and I'm good to go.
So if you do have ADD and were prescribed for it, what you have to prove as the standard for adult ADD diagnosis is: Show that it affects your daily performance.
Thats the actual diagnostic criteria.
In contrast to my true and heartbreaking story of victory through adversity,
2)One of the guys I lived with senior year, calm and focused as Buddha himself discovered that my Ritalin helped him study better. So at Yale now doing a Mechanical Engineering Ph.D, he went to their Mental Hygiene Center (why do they call it that, I don't know) and complained about his inability to do work and how he wondered if he had ADD.
The hot Russian psychiatrist told him that as long as he drinks and smokes and has coping mechanisms for the stress of grad school, he did not need medication.
So he went to another psychiatrist, off campus and told him: "I'm not proud of this, but I used to take Ritalin from one of the guys I lived with and it really helped me do my work. And now I'm having a hard time concentrating and getting things done with research and classes. And the man gave him a prescription and my buddy has been living happily ever after.
All said and done, medication is about 50% of the battle, organization, planning and behavior making up the rest.
So if you tell me your age, personal history, work status and possible medical conditions , maybe I could outline a strategy for you.
i need something like that, but my doc keeps saying no.
My doc sent me to a specialist who talked to me for a while and then he had this god awful computer program that spit out 1s and 2s. After then end of like 3 hours (actually 15 minutes) he looked at the results and said, "Yup, your concerns were right on." I got a peek at the screen and one was a bell curve graph. I don't know what it means but the only part that was shaded was the teensiest bit on the left. Anyway, apparently that program can also weed out fakers.
Bottom line, if your doc is blowing you off without even trying further examination he likely is one of those guys who thinks it's not a real problem. Get a new doc.
Another thing to keep in mind is that there's nothing wrong with reading the DSM criteria for ADD and acting accordingly to get diagnosed.
ttt
thanks...good advice i'll let you know how it goes!
