Hi again UGers,
You guys were so positive in your response to the first interview I posted here with Mark Hunt, I thought that I'd give you guys first access to my latest interview with James Te Huna. The first part is live now and the second part to come on Friday.
In the first part I talk to James about growing up, finding martial arts and his journey to the UFC. The second part look at his UFC career, with a really interesting insight into the mindset of a fighter and the importance of a fighters mental game - some really excellent material in the second part.
Some quotes from Part One:
“I went straight into work, labouring for the first few years and then learning how to lay bricks. Coming from small town New Zealand to the city of Sydney, making money and coming into the nightlife. I was just trying to stay on track, but I had fun those first couple of years. A lot of women, this and that.”
“The fight was the first time I’d [dislocated my shoulder] and I didn’t recognise what had happened. He grabbed that same arm when it was locked out and he started working on an armbar. I tapped out before he’d even done anything with it because I was in a massive amount of pain. I managed to stand back up and it popped back in as I was walking to my corner.”
I was at the point where I could go back to work and continue working hard and carry on with my life, but I was winning fights. I lost against Hector and I knew I could get to that next level, but i needed to do something about this shoulder”.
