Fox censored my Chael screen name -

that last one "knuckle" is a good documentary.

However the 3 best boxing documentaries haven't even been mentioned yet, and I'm not even referring to "Tyson".

#3-Assault in the Ring. Very interesting story with not much inside info when it happened but is revisited years later with ground breaking findings. Very interesting that most people haven't heard about it.

Assault in the ring was an unbelievable story. It's just a pity that the biggest piece of shit of the whole story (Panama Lewis) didn't get a worse punishment then he received.

I can't believe that scumbag was Aaron Pryor's trainer too. It reassures my belief that about 80% of the world champions of the last 50 years were on the juice.

Btw, VU op. Phone Post 3.0

It's called Born and Bred , a great documentary...I wanted this thread to focus on lesser known, more obscure doc's..

There are many but some of my favorite boxing documentaries are (not necessarily in order)

1. On the Ropes (the doc about Bed Stuy boxing not the fucking Meg Ryan movie)

2. Southpaw - the Francis Barrett story

3. Kings of the Ring - every fight fan should see this. It is a great primer for anyone on the history of the HW division. I like the version narrated by Louis Gossett Jr.

4. Born and Bred an awesome example of what boxing is really about.

5. The HBO documentary about Sugar Ray Robinson was awesome.

6. The legendary nights series was also great - but way, way too short (per episode)

Here is the SRR docu by HBO

Here is the Kings of the Ring in the version done by the BBC, the other version was essentially the same, but I just prefer Louis Gossett's voice. That version was distributed by HBO. Here is the BBC version.

I can't find On the Ropes on youtube, but I'd love it if someone put it up. I only have it on VHS and I no longer own a VCR. Here is a trailer for it. - It is probably my most favorite documentary.

I can't find shit for Southpaw, but it is GREAT. It was very widely distrubted at one point so there are copies out there. If you can see it - do!

Just for laughs here is my favorite episode of Legendary Nights.

There are tons of great Ali documentaries out there. I thought Sonny Liston one and especially the Joe Frazier one sucked. I was very disappointed in them.

Cool ttthread!

Subbed for some hidden gems, think I've seen all those listed so far. Phone Post
