It was an awesome event. The Japanese women had something to prove and aren't quite ready to reliquish their titles to the French. With that said it must have been very hard for Gahie and Malonga to bring the same level of energy that they did the days prior. And what about Sarah Cysique's ippon on Yoshida. No one saw that coming. At 21 years of age Sarah is definitely a rising star. And what can you say about Ono. Complete dominance. He is clearly on another level and head and shoulders above his competition. In his final's match against Chaine you could see there was zero chance that he was going to lose.

Maret is very good and I was surprised he lost. To me that was the big match, the first one. France had the "names" to take this for sure. You could see the apprehension of the Japanese players in front of the home crowd. Thanks for posting all the videos. Appreciate it.

Cysique’s osoto was dope! And pretty hard to defend with that 2 hands on the one arm on Yoshida. I also take it that it must be hard for the world champs to maintain their engery for the team event…not sure about the other countries but I guess Japan is so deep they can afford to give their #2 or #3 a go in the team comp right?
That said, Ono dumps his French opponent with what 2 wazaaris in like 20 seconds. WTF? He is clearly on another level and belive 73kg is usually the most stacked div right? Is he the most accomplished male judoka post-Riner? 27 years old and already 3 worlds and an Olympcis and wasn’t he off for the last few years with injury?
Ono is most dominant lightweight. Olympic winners usually take 1/2 years off from competition after the Olympics since qualifying doesn't begin for about another 2 years before the next Olympics. LIke you said him being 27 his body has to be near the end Olympic competition. Probably one more Olympics and that is it for him. Hashimoto (-73k) won Gold in 2017 and Silver in 2018 world judo champioinships. Japan is stacked at the lightweights. Other countries can produce a handful of judoka as good as the Japanese and have other factors in their favor. Strength in men and taller in women seems to be an advantage when the judo is comparable. It is like Japan against the world competition.
