4.3 litre vortec TME

How easy is it to swap one of these out? I just got a 96 gmc sonoma with a blown engine and can get a vortec with a 100 000k for 600-700$.

If you are replacing it with the same motor it should take you and a buddy a weekend and 2.5 cases of beer.

If you are swapping it in place a a four cylinder then I don’t know.

its a 5.7 v-8 with two cylinders chopped off.

Turbocharged 4.3 vortec in the GMC Cyclone and Typhoon was awesome.

Really dependable motor, I put one with a four barrel marine intake in my CJ7. Thing had manual steering and manual brakes. So after I installed an electric fan all it ran was the water pump and alternator. Thing had some balls.

Can take a beating and a build really well.

That's what the plan is, however like I said the engine is a 2001 and the truck is a 96, would that complicate anything?

Had one in my 95 S-10. I loved it. It was a pretty fast little truck for what it was.

These need the intake manifold gasket about every 70,000 miles.
So i would replace that since you have it out.
I have had two chevy astros and both needed it done around the same miles.

Thanks for the advice
