Nice detail pushing the head to make elbow pulling easier. I do it from mount to open up their torso, never tried from the guard!

I use this all the time. I learned it from the master Rob Khan. He calls it jumping the shoulder.

Closed guard is gay. Dude could start fucking you if he wanted. Open and half guards protect your anus.
