I think theyre applying a narrow definition.
Many of the remaining 60% are also land whales.
According to my fapulations, that leaves us with about 10% of these:

This is all related to the stupid BMI.
If the formula to determine the result is flawed, the answer will be wrong.
I'm 6', if I weighed 185 lbs, I would be considered overweight.
BMI works perfectly well for the vast majority of people. There aren't very many women who are obese according to BMI that are actually in great shape.

BMI is flawed, no doubt.
But BMI aside, there are a ton of fatties.
steve sandstrom - This is all related to the stupid BMI.BMI works well for large populations, especially for women.

Not a flawed method.

Yeah taking weight training out of the equation, BMI is a decent measurement.
How about people just be happy. If you like how you look, then STFU. If you don't like how you look, change your habits and then once you get to where you want to be, promptly STFU.
All that matters at the end of the day is if you're happy with yourself.
MightyMorphinPowerReptilians - Yeah taking weight training out of the equation, BMI is a decent measurement. If you take steroids out, bmi still works for weight training.
Frank Zane was 185 pounds at under 6 feet. Most guys at 6 foot and 200 pounds are not at 10% body fat.
If you have 18% body fat, you're still overweight, just not obese...

disbeliever - BMI is fucking useless and I have often wondered why it was adopted by doctors and insurance companies. Is it simply because it's easier and all you have to do is plug in a gender, height and weight?
Should be by waist size and body fat.
It isn't an ideal measurement, but it takes a lot more work to get any other measurement and when it comes to the entire population it isn't as bad as if you just consider people that weight lift.
I also think there aren't as many women who lift or really put on much mass if they do, most women go for a toned look at the gym, there aren't many husky fats trying to reach PRs.
In terms of BMI i'm bordering on Obese at like 28-29, but in terms of body fat i think i'm around 16-18%, which is probably a bit overweight for a male.
BMI is useless when you're as yoked as the OG
I think they all work in my office too
ClutchTheBear - I think they all work in my office tooWe must work in the same place. Although there is this new chick that just started that's smoking hot. I bring stuff to the shredder just for the fuck of it just so I can get a look at her legs and those tight little skirts she wears all the time.

Good... I like thick womens...
Bmi is bullshit for those of us that workout though. 35" waist and 44" chest should matter despite my actual weight

Should be by waist size and body fat.
If it's easier to consider you a health risk, they can charge you more. So, of course.

35% of that 40% prolly need a new classification. they are far larger than just obese anymore. i think hippowhores is a good discription
so 35% of american women are hippowhores, 5% are obese, 50% are fat 10% are sexy
Did they change the definition? I would think it's around 75% fat fucks.
Saying bmi is misleading to an individual, that is true.
Saying is misleading in aggregate for women to highlight a general health problem is not misleading.
We are too fat. The entire western world is slowly becoming too fat along with us.
It's a problem. It's not misleading.
