Would anyone actually be impressed if Khabib waited several years to poach one of the weakest WW champs in history who also happened to be blind like GSP did with Bisping at MW before he fled the division? Or would Khabib be ridiculed for it? Answer that honestly.
I was still a McGregor fan at that time, but hearing him beg Khabib and say â it was just businessâ was pretty sad and pathetic. Khabib ruined that man
You would never hear a Diaz beg for mercy like that in a fight
Sad that you try to troll and act like GSP wasnât that good. Iâm not saying Khabib wasnât good, he was excellent. But I think GSP would beat him. You, a troll, just try to disparage GSP rather than just stating why you think Khabib would beat him. Youâre a troll on every thread. Itâs fucking weird, but clearly you enjoy it so carry on.
Itâs already been said a thousand times before, but GSP does to Khabib what he did to EVERY OTHER AKA FIGHTER. Jab jab jab jabâŚ
⌠jab jab jab jab jab jab jab.
I never thought a fighter could be retired on jabs but that smashed orbital was the turning point in Kosâ career. Malnourished Kos (aka Khabib) would get dropped with those jabs.
That all sounds right, until you stand back and look at the big picture, and realize that Khabib is basically just a smaller, foreign exchange Jake Shields. Amazing on the ground⌠but looks like a goldfish in a boxing match.
I actually understand your overall confusion regarding Khabib. Jake Shields is an enigma. If he can grapple, he can beat guys like Dan Henderson (!!) and Demian Maia (!!!) who are elite grapplers from a weight class up! My keyboard is error-coding because itâs not sure why there are so many exclamation marks!
So on paper guys like Jake Shields should be world beaters. And yet anyone who can force some distance on Jake has an extremely good chance of beating him. He is SUPER BEATABLE, even though heâs amazing.
Now go back in my last two posts, and anywhere I said Jake Shields, just scribble that name out and write in Khabib. They are the same. Russian Jake Shields.
Iâm sorry you see things in such a black and white way. You can go back to any of my posts, I was very clear about the messaging: thereâs a clear path for both guys to win the fight, and itâs a great match up. I thought Charles would win based on his striking and forward pressure, but Islam prevailed. Iâd love to see a rematch⌠not because I think Charles will definitely win, but because itâs still a GREAT match up for both guys.
Now how about you answer my question instead of deflecting: Khabib vs Demian Maia. Who wins? Khabib vs Hendo⌠who wins?
If your answer to both of those questions is Khabib is too small for those guys, then why would you think heâd beat Jake Shields, especially in a grappling contest? If you hold a gun to my head and ask me who has the better grappling, whether MMA grappling or just pure sport grappling, the answer is the same for me: Jake Shields.
I donât think Khabibâs grappling holds up against bigger elite grapplers. He outsized most of his opponents and that conferred a huge advantage to him that allowed his grappling to be the dominant factor in the conversation. Especially at 170, there are enough bigger grapplers that I think Khabib would get raped by guys like Colby, Kamaru, Jake Shields, Johnny Hendricks (would hard KO him). GSP would have steamrolled him.
I donât blame him for NOT moving up in weight. But if you want to talk about GOAT⌠letâs save that conversation for guys that DID move up in weight like GSP. Not to mention, Khabib could have fought GSP if he wanted to badly enough. If that GOAT title mattered to him, he could have dedicated himself to it instead of scurrying off and covering with the first bullshit excuse he could think of. âOh, I told my mom I wouldnât fight anymoreâ. Ok genius. Have a second conversation with your mom and tell her that you promised your dad youâd fight GSP. Tell her that you need to do it for your country and your people. Tell her this is what Abdulmanap would have wanted. Imagine evolving into a man instead of choosing to continue being a boy. Harsh words, but⌠come at me bro.
You underestimated Abdulmanap grappling when they fought. You predicted Oliveiria would win but Islam absolutely ran through him.
I literally called every moment of that fight before it happened.
I think Khabib would destroy a lot of bigger fighters like Shields but felt he was the most dominant at LW. I donât know why you keep trumpeting GSPâs Bisping fight as some great accomplishment when it was a clear poach and we both know it.
Man you sure used a lot of words to admit that Maia and Hendo would ruin Khabib. I understand youâre queasiness about Jake Shields. Hes a bad match for Khabib.
Bro⌠you literally just wrote a bible to take attention off your wrong picks against Team Khabib underestimating them in the past and are moving the goal posts to some irrelevant fighters who arenât half as good as Khabib p4p and would probably get demolished by him.
Well Iâm just not sure how good Khabibs grappling actually was. He stayed in a safe weight class where he outsized his opponents. He never used his grappling against bigger opponents like Jake Shields did. Yet youâre certain his grappling is better because of some friendly gym footage. There are lots of other guys who challenged themselves against larger opponents MMA is filled with Sakurabas and Hendos. Khabib might be the GOAT of guys who always fought smaller guys but thatâs not saying much.
Asking whether GSP or Jake Shields is as good as Belal might make sense if youâve already predetermined that Khabib is an unstoppable force of nature. But to most guys itâs just a ridiculous question. Youâre asking if the GOAT 170 is as good as 2022âs gatekeeper. Give me a break.
