Anderson Silva/Chael Sonnen 1 went down in Oakland, CA.
I was hoping to read some of the UG's stories about that crazy night. Where were you? How did you react? What did you think about how it all went down?
For me it was a very special night and one I will never forget for the rest of my life. My best friend and I went to the event and pretty much just went ape shit crazy when that submission happened. This was actually my personal reaction from that night:

5 years doesn't seem that long ago, crazy how time passes. Let's hear some stories you guys have from UFC 117!
I was screaming so much I woke up my then 1 month old child. My wife got pissed then watched the fight 3rd round on and got as loud as me waking up my 3 year old and 5 year old 
I was workin the side door at the bar I bounced at. I made a bet with one of the managers that Chael would win. Just because he wanted to bet "easy" money on Silva. Fight ha me so pumped up right until the end. Haha
It was grade 11 and I had a house full of about 20 people. I had $10 bets with 5 of them that Chael would win. It was 23 minutes of glory, and then the ultimate serving of crow. Regardless, as an MMA fan, I was still amped about everything that unfolded. One of my favourite MMA nights of all time.
I fell asleep...
Went to a Toronto FC game that day and had been drinking since 2 in the afternoon. Went to the bar after the game to have a few more and was enjoying myself. So much so that by the time I got home I had missed the first two matches, but watched the Matt Hughes fight while drunkenly stuffing pizza into my mouth. Then Jon Fitch happened and I couldn't stay awake watching him. My GF at the time tried to wake me up but I was far too drunk. Found out the next day I had missed an all timer. :(
I was being loud and upset that silva was losing. My oldest daughter, who was 5 at the time, came in to see what was going on. When silva got that sub I picked her up, hugged her, sounds around and cheered. She still had no clue what was going on but thought it was hilarious. 
My Wife and I just bought a new house, and moved in the week prior to the fight. We christened the house with a party, and this fight. Had a bunch of people over, good food and drinks. I drank a little too much whiskey, and ate way too many garlic balls. Had the shits the next day, and heartburn, haha.
The fight was awesome, though. I thought AS was going to murder Chael for the relentless shit talking during the build up. I thought it wouldn't get out of the 1st round. When Chael came out and took it to Anderson, nobody could believe it. We were all going nuts the whole fight, until he had the colossal brain fart and gave up the triangle. Everybody at my house was rooting for Chael, so a collective Aweeee Fuck was heard when he got tapped.
Still, it was an epic fight, and a fun night.
