What I got from the movie was how people will resist destiny, because they are in no position to see the big picture. So they become bitter. In the end he gets it. Being on my second marriage I can relate to the concept.

As easy as it was to hate Summer, she was honest with him from the very start about who she was and what he could expect. It was he who started trying to squeeze his own (round peg) version of destiny into the square hole (who she was). He tried to make it into something it wasn't. At that point I started to get more mad at him than her.
Oh, and none of you will ever find love so don't even look for it!
