Ernesto hoost started his career in 1983.

He lost to Sapp in 2002. 19 years in the game catches up to you. Sapp didn’t have the same type of fight mileage he had!

Hoost had wars upon wars before Sapp even was a thought.

Same has happened to Sapp unfortunately

hope they allow steroids

All true… but it isn’t like Sapp was some bastion of agility or known for mental toughness.

Even at his advanced age, he should have made quick work of the beast.

Fury should have mopped the floor with Francis.

My point is, athleticism plays a major role and combat sports generally don’t get the cream of the crop

No and no.

Ernesto losing a step is more of the factor than the skill or athletic part. Bob Sapp being younger and less mileage helped.

Fury didn’t take that fight serious and shame on him for doing so. Plus, Francis is a durable guy.

Francis likes throwing hands. He took it very serious and understand boxing someone what. Has nothing to with athleticism. Fury and Francis both can hit.

Bob sapp was sturdy and could actually take a punch and kick when he was younger. Nothing about getting battered is athletic. It’s more mind over matter. Mentality. It sucks getting punched repeatedly. You either have it or don’t .

Athletics≠fighting

Of the 2 fights that Sapp “won”, both had some controversy. #1 was actually stopped because of a cut. #2 Ref Kakuda allowed Sapp to do whatever illegal stuff he wanted and IMO it was stopped prematurely. Yeah, Hoost was rocked, but I think he could have continued. If Hoost had fought smart and used his skills - he wins both fights.

And I agree that he just wants to compete and is not doing it for the dough. He seems like the kind of guy that would be pretty smart with all the money he made and not piss it away.
