The guy is probably the highest ranked fighter on the card after Shogun. And guys like Pellegrino and Tibau are WAY less likely to have an exciting fight than Joseph is.

I disagree. Benavidez is top 3-4 in his weight class but I think Tibau and Pellegrino is going to be fireworks, both guys are going out to make a statement that they still belong.
We hear that all the time, and both fighters are good, but they also have a lot of fights that are your basic control-and-outpoint decisions.
Benavidez is 100mph start to finish and he always goes for the finish.
Bottom line: Benavidez is higher ranked AND more exciting than every single fighter on the card outside the main event.
Nevermind why we aren't guaranteed to see him fight, why isn't he being SHOWCASED?

I'd rather see most of the main card before Benavidez but he should definitely be either on the main instead of Marquardt/Miller or on spike instead of Cane/Marshall.

Benavidez is awesome, but they are bringing the lighter guys along slowly. Torres was the main card opener in his first UFC fight, even Golden Boy Faber is only co-main.

Maybe, but the point is that the fight should be guaranteed. Pellegrino and Tibau are FAR less exciting, and neither guy is a contender. Cane and Marshall will never sniff a title shot and I can't remember any classic fights from either of them. Same goes for pretty much everything else on the card.
Benavidez is a top-ranked, top contender, whose fights are hugely high energy. He's like Guida if Guida were more than a gatekeeper and finished more fights. It's retarded to have NINE fucking fights guaranteed and Benavidez is not one of them.
