Yes, you are missing the fact that the fight breaks out DURING the game. And there have been many cases in hockey where a player does something "thuggish" and gets in serious trouble for it (see Todd Bertuzzi hitting Steve Moore). If a hockey fight breaks out during the game they have rules for that. If the teams fight back in the dressing rooms (which has happened) people are suspended, fined, etc.
Hockey is the exception, and its standing in North America vs football, baseball, basketball would not indicate that unoeganized brawling is good for business. MMA still suffers from massive misconceptions, and still has another generation of regulation to go. Moments like that set everything back, a lot.
Hockey fights are almost as well-orchestrated as boxing matches. The guys know who's going to fight and when, the refs know, the crowd knows. It's a slow part of the game, the score is set, gloves come off and two guys punch at each other for a minute or two, circled by three refs, while their teammates take a breather and watch from a distance.
That shit in the strikeforce cage was pathetic and completely the fault of Strikeforce for letting 30 people into the cage post fight. The UFC, while sometimes having fights not turn out for the best, knows how to run a show. They make it look easy. Lesnar getting into the cage with Carwin was handled completely to make sure nothing untwoard would happen.
It's never the two guys hyping the fight, it's always the dickhead entourage. Strikeforce fucked CBS and they won't forget it.
Hockey is also a sport where the players are carrying a possible weapon. Hockey fights are allowed so the players can handle issues themselves. There would be no "Great One" if he didn't have people who protected him.
When was the last time you saw 6 guys going thug life and curbstomping someone during a hockey game? Just curious.
Fighting in hockey is actually allowed, you just get a penalty for it.
but you do not see hockey players talking shit and getting in someones face as they are doing an interview after the game...Have you ever seen a brawl after a team wins the Cup.
if that happend it would be a black eye for hockey as well.
