This has been discussed on a few other threads, but deserves to be talked about.
If Zuffa buys Pride and everything works out there needs to be a fighters union much like the players union in the other major pro sports. I see nothing wrong with a monoply in our sport, but the fighters have to be paid more than what they are currently getting. I think that any lawyers from this site, or other people of that nature should try and work with the UFC to create a fighters union for these fighters. I have been watching the sport since 93 when it came here to Denver, and I am amazed as to how it has grown, but due to the fact that even though there are smaller shows, there is a monoply in this sport. The fighters need to be paid more if there are going to be twice the amount of shows going on for one organization. As much as I hate unions there needs to be one in this case.
I am by no means the guy to talk to about legal matters, or unions, but hopefully since there are so many people here and this place is one of the reasons for the sports growth our opinions on the matter will be taken somewhat seriously. Are there any lawyers out there who could shed some light on this subject and at least the a conversation started?
