A Kitten Has Imprinted Upon Me, Le Shat

My wife thought it would be nice to foster.

I said the kittens need to be at an age where they are at least eating regular food. We showed up and they gave us 2 that were still on the bottle (a boy and a girl). We had to feed them every 4 hours.

We grew attached and could not return them, especially after seeing some of the people who go in to adopt.

The boy is a polydactyl, meaning he has a thumb…it looks like he’s wearing little mittens.

Since we got them so young, he’s incredibly attached to me, more than any pet I’ve ever had. Follows me everywhere, begs to be picked up, sits on my shoulder, lays on my chest, etc…

Anyone else had a pet imprint on them?

Merry Christmas,

Le Shat

Congratulations. You made a friend for life. Give them love and you'll get it back in return. My bengal has been my best bud for the past 7 years. He cuddled with me every day for months while I recovered from two knee surgeries.

My daughter found 3 kittens.  2 were polydactyl and the other was a bob tail.   I kept the bob tail.   It’s obsessed with me.  I can’t even shit without it trying to follow me and crying outside the door until I open it again.  It’s so fucking needy and annoying…but it’s my homie now.  Only cat I’ve ever had that will legit play fetch with you.

u got pics of this kitty with thumb

kitties are damn cute

Got a rescue about 6-8 months ago at my daughter's request.  The cat is now my buddy.  Follows everywhere and has to sleep with me.

I've had 2 Bengals for a few years. All they do is follow me around the house.

We got Sadie when she was 2 months old, not quite as young as your kitties but we pretty much raised her from a little bitty thing and she's very attached to us

Had a cat imprint me one time,  neighbor was feeding feral cats so there were about 30 around our houses at one time, accidentally ran one over in my driveway and it's head exploded blood all onto my wife's car. Had to sit outside with the hose cleaning my driveway and her car, and then toss the sad limp body into woods, not a good imprint. Also have seen 7 of them hit by cars live action out front, crazy cats.... keep coming back

I had a cat in Texas. Fucker just came up to me at random one day on the porch and sat in my lap. She was obviously a hard ass, but extremely loving right out of the gate with me. She started coming by every day to chill on the porch. After a year or so, I saw her flattened in the road.

Then another cat took her place. Made friends with her. She stayed about a year, maybe more. Wound up comforting her in death. It wasn't pretty. Multiple seizures. I just couldn't bring myself to put her down, so I just made sure she was as comfortable as possible.

Now I hate cats.

I reported about something similar that happened to me with an old lady down the street letting her dog run wild. The only difference is I ran over his chest and he was suffering. So I had to move his head under the tire and go forward and back again.

Then she got another one and he was terrorizing families in the park. So I had to take him way out and put him down. I got her a cat to replace that dog and now she seems happy.
