 That area is about the worst place on earth you could go out to and try to survive. June -September it is insanely hot. Unless you've been there or somewhere like Death Valley it's hard to appreciate just how hot and dry it gets. There are nights where the low temp is still in the 90's. Poor guy had a 0% chance of surviving. There is often gusts of breeze that just suck the water out of your body.

Yep. Used to go fishing out that way. Incredibly hot, especially in september.
