About to hit "buy" on a scope --talk me out of it

About to hit buy on a scope.

I am not a big consumer or don’t buy all sorts of shit.

I mean there are a lot of things I would like to have that I don’t buy.

Pretty frugal generally speaking.

I don’t have a scope for a 338 Lapua and about hit buy.

Doubt I will ever shoot this rifle very much and do have a scope on 300 win mag I could move over to it but that seems like a lot of trouble.

Do. you set this rifle up with a scope of its own ? Or hold you pennies ?

I say buy it! Throw some high quality glass on that fucker and dope it out to 1000 and beyond.

What's the point of having a long range rifle and not having a quality hunk of glass on the fucker lol..

Fuck that noise! Ball out on some nice glass… You know you want to…

Maybe go to a gun shop and see if they have a used quality scope cheaper? I did it recently and saved a bunch of money.

Probably not going to go real high quality or price on this one.

I do have a Nightforce on a 300 Win Mag I could move over to this 338 Lapua.

I could buy something cheaper for the 300, but actually will shoot it more than the 338 so that may not make sense.

I am thinking of a Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS II 4.5 - 30 X. Found one on a pretty deep sale.

A 338 Lapua pretty much needs a scope of its own, you’ll never be able to enjoy the limits of that rifle without good glass on it. I know times are tough right now but at some point it deserves it’s own scope.

The used market is a great way to score killer deals on optics to be honest. Always someome looking to score some cash or fund a build or something etc.

Arms list, gun broker, forums etc have some solid deals out there if you are willing to hunt a bit IME.

Years ago I got a pretty decent deal on a Nightforce this way, from a trusted store. Hard to explain but one of those places that makes things right if you ain’t happy.

I keep it mounted on a 300 Win Mag,

Pretty nice scope here at a pretty good price as well

This is true.

To make it worse and theKen is really going to give me hell about this part.

I have never fired this 338 Lapua and I bought a silencer for it years back before the rules about trusts changed. Got a Silencerco Big Bore Harvester suppressor, never sent a round down it or the rifle. I think that was in 2016.

Then look around a bit.

Man you need to get out to the range and shoot that thing!! Hopefully you’ve been buying some ammo here and there along the way. I still see 338 Lapua ammo on dealer shelves but it’s gotten pretty pricey.

Midway has a pretty good price on this same scope.

I thought about it and or. thought about putting it on the 300 win mag and moving the NF over to the 338.
