I notice he is the underdog. While hes only at +110, does anyone else think this could be easy money? I don't see why Vettori is favored in this fight as Hermansson has had a pretty solid run at 4-1, only losing to Cannonier.

All I know about Vettori is he gave Adesanya a good fight years ago, but hasn't really beaten anyone of note that I know off hand. Hermansson has beaten Jacare and finished Kelvin quick in his last outing. I think I'm gonna throw a couple hundred down on him.

His standup is bad but he knows it. I have no idea what TD defense vettori has but if he has great defense he wins. If not he loses. But will he? Vettori has 2 knockouts in 20 professional fights, and it's been 10 fights since his last KO, with none in 8 UFC fights. Meanwhile Hermansson has scored 11 KO's in 26 professional fights, none in his last 5 fights, but 3 in 11 fights in the UFC. I'm not so sure Vettori destroys any top middleweights in striking, but admittedly his fights are a bit of a blur for me, but I don't recall him being an elite point striker. He's a strong dude who can put the choke on the bastards, but before his last fight he went the distance 6 times in a row.

Agree with op, i'd give edge to Hermmanson on the ground. Vittorias a better striker but his fights usually go th the ground. Hes good there but Hermmanson looks way more technical.

I'd bet on daper dancin jack hermasson. Vettori's biggest strength is his ground and pound and we all know that Jack's jiu jitsu is sneaky sneaky.

By no means do I think Hermansson’s striking is elite level but FWIW he out struck Jacare handily when they fought. He’s got some good striking that I think is being vastly underestimated here.

His striking is definitley being underrated but most strikers in the division would outstrike Jacare if they had Jack's ground game.
I hope you’re all right. I’m mostly judging his striking from the cannoneir fight but granted cannoneir has some good boxing so maybe jack is better than he seemed. As for vettori ive only seen him twice but once he murdered the guy standing and the other time as against Izzy snd yeah he lost the striking but he hung in there better than anyone else I’ve seen Vs Izzy.

Granted he could KO anyone. But I’m weary of guys like Whitaker and Costa deluding themselves into thinking they can hang standing against him. I’m an Izzy fan but I just wanna know how he handles a relentless takedown guy

I mean you might be right but in terms of skill by itself, his striking looked good. I just remember not really having seen him throw much before and when I watched that fight he looked fluid. He looks like a guy who has been doing it for at least several years. Vettori on the other hand looks slow and stiff, and seems like his improvements come much slower.

Yeah I agree with all of that. I do think Vettori was obviously very competitive with Izzy but I think Izzy was nowhere near the complete MMA fighter he is today, and would likely KO him quickly in a rematch.
I think most of Vettori’s success (limited, but still) came from his pressure, clinching ability, and just overall fearlessness when coming into range. He was probably the guy most willing to take hard shots to get into close range aside from Gastelum. Jack could be a bad matchup for Izzy, I just struggle to see anyone take him down who isn’t a great striker themselves. He’s entering Conor territory in a sense that he has shown a slight vulnerability in terms of being taken down (even though both Conor and Izzy probably have underrated TDD and grappling), but his understanding of distance and range makes it difficult for anyone to get close to him (aside from guys like Khabib).
I think THAT’S the key, more so than his TDD. I think Jack could possibly take him down if he got close enough and timed it perfectly, but that’s IF he was able to achieve that. That’s a tall order. Izzy has even shown that on the rare occasion he is taken down, he’s not easy to keep down and will threaten immediately with subs. It’s an interesting matchup though.
It’s funny because after Jack beat Gastelum I thought to myself that if he got another big win, him vs Izzy would be an interesting matchup. Soon after is when Izzy announced his move up to LHW. Hopefully he comes back down though cause there are still some fights I’d like to see.
