I watched the Revenant last night (spoiler coming for some), and over the course of the movie I kept thinking that there was something familiar about the voice of the character 'Fitzgerald,' and toward the end of the movie I realized that it reminded mwah of Bane in the Batman movie. I looked at the actor, wondering if it was Tom Hardy, but decided that it wasn't him.
After the movie I checked the IMdB and sure enough...Fitzgerald was played by Tom Hardy.
This was the first time in a long time that an actor completely fooled me like that. I think the first time it ever happened was when I went into Forrest Gump knowing that he was being played by Tom Hanna, but still partway through the movie I actually started and remembered that it was actually an actor I was watching, and not a real guy named Forrest Gump.
Who do you know who has ever done that too you...I'm curious to know. It's the opposite of guys like Denzel Washington, who basically plays every one of his characters in the same method. I always know I'm watching Denzel Washington.
Sorry for typos...can't edit in app.
Christian Bale. It's amazing how well he changes for a movie role. He's like a fucking chameleon, man.
Probably Ronda Rousey.
I had no idea she was in Fast and Furious or Expendables until the credits.
Amazing.

Gary oldman in every role acts. One of very few real actors OT there

Watched The Revenant last night as well, and was blown away by the whole film. The scenery, camera shots, acting. Even the kid from 'Meet the Millers' was great.
Imo, both Hardy and Leo deserve an oscar for that film. Hardy is the best in the business at the moment, imo. Peaky Blinders being another film that he absolutely kills it in. Dude is ill at accents too.
Holy shit...kid from Meet the Millers.
Tom Hardy is an amazing actor. No one denies this. But has anyone else noticed that his characters Bane, Fitzgerald, and even Tommy Riordan all walked the same way? Watch the first scene Fitzgerald is in in the Revenant and tell me it's not the exact same walk as Bane.
Daniel Day Lewis has some of the greatest performances. Definitely check out a few of his movies. There Will Be Blood and Gangs Of New York are great.
Gary Oldman is a bloody chameleon. He plays everything, well.
I prefer when an actor 'acts'.

Paul Giamatti is always a solid choice.
Oldman is fantastic.
Robert Downey Jr is damn good as well

That's who I thought of immediately, it's probably hurt him for marketability because he's generally so unrecognizable that he could never build a following from one film to another.
Salt the Snail - Tom Hardy is an amazing actor. No one denies this. But has anyone else noticed that his characters Bane, Fitzgerald, and even Tommy Riordan all walked the same way? Watch the first scene Fitzgerald is in in the Revenant and tell me it's not the exact same walk as Bane.Check out Locke, completely different walk.

Oldman is awesome but hes more of a supporting actor, DDL can carry a film.

It's one of the only Hardy movies I haven't seen. He doesn't walk like that in any of his other movies. It's his badass walk.

Hardy is good but doesn't have the greatest range
