I heard this wasn't going to be any big deal, but now I hear it's for a slot at the big adcc.

Thats not entirely true.. Regional winners in expert divisions will be invited to a National event in the future, if you win your expert div in the nationals you receive an invite to the big dance. So all the regionals now are leading up to a national event with the winners of that even receiving and invite to ADCC 2010. I got an email about it yesterday.

The Trials now are basically the Nationals. Next event after Texas is Vegas next week. This gives any grappler a shot at the big show.
