Adding a second SATA HDD?

I have plenty of experience with IDE's but this is my first time with SATA. I am using WinXP SP3

I have an old P4 computer to which I'd like to add a second internal SATA drive to (1TB Samsung F1 hd102UJ) because I've run out of space on the stock 250GB drive. The C drive with the OS is already a SATA, so I didn't think there'd be any problems adding a second.

I bought the Samsung, hooked it up, the BIOS detects it...but when I look in windows explorer to format it, it's not there. I look in the device manager, and it's detected and "working." I've switched the connecter around and rebooted from both the "0" and "1" positions and I still get the same problem.

I want to copy all my old files onto the new drive... but Windows explorer won't detect it (Device MGR does). How do I fix this?

I've already spent hours looking for driver/help guides but cant really find any relevant info, please help.

Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc?

Bingo, that's exactly what I needed; I've got it formatted and running now. Thanks!
