Adrenaline dump, gassed due to abbreviated camp...OR body shots?

Mendes is known for his quick movement and decent defense. Not much of that was evident last night. Seemed out of character for him to stand, wait and react to McGregor's shots.

Mendes had his moments but, at times, appeared to be a deer in the headlights.

Was he overwhelmed by the event, his lack of preparation, or by his opponent?

Adrenaline dump because he was pacing back and forth like a pit bull in Michael Vick's backyard, short camp, TONS of body shots and straights to the chin. It'll break any man who is not mentally ready.

Hats off to Chad and Conor plus Robbie and Rory for showing the fans around the world how champions are supposed to fight. Phone Post 3.0

Maybe these body shots? It was weird. He got more tired on top of Conor than Conor got on the bottom. Never seen that before. Phone Post 3.0

Probably a combination of all three. I was thinking adrenaline dump might have had a lot to do with it last night and was surprised that nobody else was mentioning it. It definitely was the biggest fight Mendes has been in (not necessarily in terms of opponent, but in terms of large scale event and hype factor) Phone Post 3.0

He looked slow and weak after the first clinch imo. His punches and shots were in quick bursts and sporadic because he was gassed after 30 seconds. Only explanation is adrenaline dump. He's been in title fights, but let's get real, that was the most pressure he's ever felt. Phone Post 3.0

For everyone bitching about Conner's Bjj, isn't that old school BJJ philosophy? Conserve energy on the bottom and make the top player work? Helio Gracie made his bones letting guys wear themselves out while he sat in guard. Phone Post 3.0

Or was he paid to stand in front of Conor?? Phone Post 3.0

I think the body slams had a lot to do with it. Remember at least twice, he just gathered up McGregor with sheer strength and blasted him down.

2nd problem was once he had McGregor down, he really didnt do serious damage. Some fighters, once they get top position, Cain, Rockhold, Jon Jones, it's pretty much a wrap because you are gonna get assaulted.

McGregor is extremely lucky because he was seconds away from the most embarrassing loss in UFC history.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows it was due to body shots. Phone Post 3.0

who gives a crap dude, it's over, the guy lost. It's fucking over.

That was a new McGregor line as well. It was pretty funny and true, Lol. Good for him. I was kind of getting tired of him calling Mendes a twerp. Haha. Phone Post 3.0
