Advanced Guard Passing Video

My instructor introduced my to this idea when I was a Purple belt. Took some time to work into my game but it is definitely a lot of fun

Interesting!  I like the second one especially, reminds me of something Caio Terra showed, but some different details and methods.  Thanks for sharing!

thx

The first one you see fairly often... usually against someone trying to sit up for a kimura. A good hip bump sweep the guy will usually have his hips raised and the leg really coming up and over. People get lazy and forget about their legs when attempting kimuras.

JRockwell... You talking about the one where you dive under the leg in a low 1/2 sort of way?
This just demonstrates another reason why you should really trap the arm against your rib cage when butterfly sweeping... Had a thread about this before... someone linked to jits.tv showing butterfly sweep by stuffing the arm... just giving that caio type pass.

I hear you, but trapping the arm against the rib cage too early tends to give the underhook against the wary passer. That's why MG's method of shoving the elbow into the centerline is much more effective, IMO. As far as coming underneath to take the back like Caio shows, it definitely works...unless the guy on top is a good deep half defender/passer. Like anything, moves like this have their time and place against certain opponents. Phone Post

I think we can all agree the secret to all the moves mentioned is timing.

Whoever has it best wins

Incorrect.

anyone who knows anything knows that the
secret to getting moves to work is
confidence and sincerity.

also driving a nice car.

Seriously, since upgrading to a Dodge Charger from a Hyundai Sonata, my jiu-jitsu has gotten, like, WAY better. Can't be a coincidence. Phone Post

Ya, i'm pretty sure my guillotine sucks because I drive a 94 nissan Axxess that has the paint peeling off the hood.

it's the only logical explanation, because I am confident and sincere.

Explain Marcelo Garcia's ride in relation to his technique then.

Hmm...maybe he has a Maserati in storage somewhere... Phone Post
