AFFLICTION-how would average joe know about it???

seriously, everyone is debating the buyrates Affliction ppv will get..i doubt it will get over 50k and that wil equal a shitbomb imo...then again, the only way someone would know about this event is if they followed the websites as i have only seen 1 commercial about it and that was late night...other than that, you have word of mouth and that wont do much good because to most people, if it isnt UFC, they wont order it no matter if some dude named fedor is fighting or not...

oh yeah, Trump on the Stern show did jack shit so how does Affliction go about turning this into a bigtime promotion??they have put big bucks into this first show and it wont do that well imo....do they need bigtime promotion or do they need to market it as a bloodsport(as ufc successfully did in the beginning) because luring these big name foreign fighters isnt going to do the trick....

if they did do 50k in ppv that would after the ppv ditributors get their provide about 1.2 in revenue to the company. if they do at least 7k on the live gate they will turn a small profit. and a profit on their first show will keep them solid

I've been seeing commercials randomly late at night on tv.

I have seen a reasonable amount of banner ads (on music sites and other non-mma sites), but I am guessing buy rates will be very low...

Trump was on the Howard Stern show and they talked about the event. The people on ESPN radio were talking about it as well.

Also don't forget about the free fights on the Fox channel, some more exposure there.

Huge banners hanging up at The Buckle in the shopping mall. That's where all the kids spend $50 on Xtreme Couture and Tapout shirts.

All the local sports talk radio shows here (Omaha, NE) have had commercials on for the past 2 weeks.

^^still sucks that people have no idea who fedor is...they see an ad for Affliction and see fedor and ask 'wtf is that?'..they see ARlovski and go 'oh i know him but he sucks anymore' so it isnt exactly enticing to buy the ppv....

they've been advertising on myspace for the past week+

Even when Donald Trump was on howard Stern he may have discussed it for a total of about 30 seconds before they switched topics.

Very poor promotion.

Trump should have taken the Buenetello fight.

i hear advertisements for it on the radio quite a bit

There was an Affliction ad in the Wall Street Journal.

Average guys at work this week didn't no shit about the show. But they know who Kimbo is and about the UFC tonight.

I want Afflication to succeed tonight, I could only do so much spreading the word to my friends who are casual fans.

I have only seen the Affliction spots on the weather channel.

There was a huge sign advertising the Affliction event on Times Square.

Gotta keep in mind that Affliction is not just a startup MMA org -- they're an established and successful clothing company, and any efforts in MMA will also serve as advertising for their clothing. Smirnoff and other liquor companies lose money (at least I know they used to) by making/distributing Smirnoff Ice and other non-hard liquor products, but for them Smirnoff Ice serves as a means increase brand exposure, especially given the restriction on hard liquor advertising. Affliction MMA division may lose big money but Affliction as a whole may make bigger money
