Al Iaquinta

So he said this "There were a lot of respectable fighters who tweeted that I won that fight, and that's what I take most of anything - people who know about fighting, people who know in the second and third round when things get tough, what it's like to just keep coming forward and really want it and not shy away from a battle."
So since I dont have twitter, could some of you show who these respectable fighters are. Just interested.... Phone Post 3.0

I dont understand the decision, because if we're counting leg kicks well then Bendo should've won à decision against Cowboy. Phone Post 3.0

We are counting leg kicks.

Leg kicks win fights.

Aren't leg kicks counted and included as strikes in the compu-strike stats? Phone Post 3.0

Either way tho, even if added to the numbers that are posted I think masdival still out struck him "numbers" wise.... I honestly thought the 30-27 was a better job judging than the two 29-28 scores.... I had it 2-1maybe 3-0 for masdival but whatever Phone Post 3.0

And calf kicks won benson the fight vs frankie ...

The problem is consistency in judging Phone Post 3.0

I like Al, but he lost that fight. The End

Moving forward and being aggressive doesn't equal a win (although thats Diego Sanchez' dream)

If u are moving forward , and getting outstruck 2 to 1, you aren't winning.
Jorge outclassed him in every way.

Jorge, looked too pretty and was lazy though. The judges almost "punished" him for not trying hard enough. Its like Jorge wanted everyone to know that he can half ass it and still win

There were a couple other fighters that agreed with the decision. MMAFighting had an article with fighter's tweets. Phone Post 3.0

I think Masvidal won the fight, but was too passive in the last two rounds and was penalized for it. Not saying that's fair or the way judging should be done, but that's how it appeared. I think if Jorge came out in the 2nd the way he finished the 1st there wouldn't have been a need for judges, the fight would likely have been over.

I've watched it four times now (trying to get a medal) and Jorge was moving forward more than Al was in the second round, especially the last 2 minutes. Obviously not moving forward as dramatically as he was in the last 45 seconds of R1, but still moving forward, being the aggressor and "controlling the octagon" more than Al was.

Overall R2 is like 2:30 of Jorge moving forward, 1:30 of Al moving forward and 1:00 of stalemate. So Jorge outstruck Al in R2 AND controlled the cage more. Crosby may be a loose unit but in this case he was the only one of the three judges who called R2 correctly. The two judges who gave that round to Al are screwy as hell.

Now, about that medal ...

100% agreed.  I though Masvidal looked excellent and clearly won the fight watching it live, but had a nagging feeling that the judges would favour Iaquinta's style in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
