Aldo gets lightweight title shot with win?

Nice. That is a great deal. Does Pettis still get his shot at LW if he wins? Or would there be a rematch right away.

Bendo what u going to do boss!

Nice Phone Post

Lamas can't be a happy man he can't find Aldo for a long time if wins. Potential for rematches too if fight is close or Pettis wins close.

makes sense

maybe thats why he said "yes"

Fuckin this...  If Aldo fights Pettis in August, it would be 2+ years for the earliest FW to get a shot.  If Aldo wins and takes Bend next, it could get close to 3 years before a FW gets a shot.

They'll create a new champion at 145 for the title Aldo would vacate before it would get to that point. I could see it being Lamas vs TKZ and Swanson vs Edgar to determine who fights for it.

Assuming they don't want to get Faber involved lol. Phone Post

That's awesome for Aldo. Nice way too sweeten the pot. Makes sense to agree now.

Aldo has wanted to move up for a few fights but Dede hasn't wanted him to. I assume a win here means he vacates 145, lamas and whoever credible and healthy will fight for the new 145 title.

This is awesome IMO. The division needs to establish itself outside of Aldo, who was always going to move up. Phone Post

No matter how "stupid" some of you feel this decision is its a great fight and not at all Pettis' fault. All Ant did was step up in a situation where he could ACTUALLY get a title shot. Lets be honest he did get screwed a couple of times... Phone Post

Step up? No stepping up would mean filling in when a fighter was needed. If anything he created this mess by texting Dana in the first place.

145 has more then enough contenders for the belt. There would only be a need for this if the division was small & weak. Problem is that 145 is the total opposite of that.

Also, wasn't Pettis next in line or at least 2nd in line for a shot at 155?

So what you're saying is that you believe 45 is stacked? Who would you say is the true contender then?

I guess my point was that I'm down to watch a great fight/match-up whenever they can set one up. People acting like this is Chael/Bones or GSP/Diaz is just flat out stupid. Phone Post

Shows this was all about getting what he wanted.  It'll hold up the 145 belt again, and he was just complaining about how Lamas and Swanson deserved shots right away...

It was obvious from the moment they made this fight that the plan was for the winner to fight the LW champ in a true superfight.

So no matter who wins we will see FW vs LW champ end of the year or early 2014.

Some people will never be happy...

slowly creeps outta thread Phone Post

ooooooo dis be gettin good folks

I love the matchups Aldo vs Pettis and Aldo vs Benson but this whole idea of fighters getting a title shot in a division they're not even in is really out of hand. What's the point in even having the division belts then?

And to think they want to create a lame 115 lb division. lol

Hopefully after this Aldo stays at 155 if he wins and Pettis picks a division and stays there.

easedel - ...this is fucking comical.

Seriously this is fucking beyond stupid. So much fuckery. This is doing nothing but screwing up both divisions.

So if Pettis loses, then what? He stays at 145, has to go through a gauntlet of fighters to get another title shot. If he goes back to 155, will he still be considered a top contender for the belt or will he have to fight a few more times to get back in contention?

Does this mean Aldo is moving up to 155 too? Say he wins then wins the 155 title...so he will hold two belts, which will severely bogged down both 145 and 155 shots. If he wins vs pettis but loses at 155 does he stay down at 145 considering he has the belt?

What if Bendo beats Aldo, does he stay at 155 or move up?

What happens with Zombie, LLamas, Edgar, Cub..hell even Guida if Pettis beats Aldo ( he has beat Pettis already, does he get a shot ) at 145? With title fights now being about 2x a year, the above guys should say fuck it and make their own belt amongst themselves.

Same shit at 155.

All of this for a "superfight".

I can't believe you are bitching Bout this Phone Post
