Aldo may be relatively young but he has A LOOOOOT of miles on him. He's been fighting at the top level for a long time. A LOOOOOONG time.
This is Aldo's 12th year as a pro fighter. GSP finished up in his 12th year. This'll be Aldo's 27th fight. GSP finished up after his 27th fight. I'm just sayin'.
And by then Georges had LITERALLY lost his mind from the pressure. LITERALLY. And if anything Jose, coming from terrible poverty and repping one of the most crazy passionate nations on the ENTIRE PLANET Earth, has more pressure than GSP ever did. Mentally that kid has carried a huge amount of weight for a long time. I'm just sayin'.
A lot of 5 rounders on Jose too. 6 of the fuckers. 30 whole rounds at the championship level. Plus the time he broke his foot with his first kick of the fight and still went 4 rounds with KZ. That's a lot of rounds fighting the best guys on the planet in one of the P4P toughest divisions on the planet (the best, toughest 5'6"-5'8" athletes aren't getting creamed off the top to make megamillions playing football/soccer/basketball etc - unlike the best guys from 5'10" on up). I'm just sayin'.
Aldo took plenty of damage from Chad Money, plus the fact he comes from a camp which operates under that quaint Brazilian tradition of going at 99-100% during sparring (MMA gloves, no headgear etc). Look at all our Chute Boxe heroes these days. I'm just sayin'.
Then there's the chronic neck injury Aldo's had for a few of years which forces him to do a full 4 week rehab before every fight camp. If he doesn't get the rehab done he experiences not just neck pain but loss of feeling and strength in his arms from the pinched nerves. If he does get the rehab done, well ... that's just more time on the treatment table and less time working on skills. And even then he's a guy working with a neck that's not "healthy", it's just "patched up" to get him through to the next time. I'm just sayin'.
The fact he does the old-school, organ-damaging style of weight cuts (which is the real reason he has trouble making 145 - he's only 5'7", not naturally over-sized for a 145er AT ALL). I'm just saying.
The crashing of motorcycles. I'm just sayin'.
All that stuff adds up. All that stuff is a mountain he carries. And a man can only carry a mountain that size for so long. I'm just sayin'.
And Conor is significantly bigger than Aldo. SIGNIFICANTLY. And Conor has a ridiculous KO% for a 145er, so even from a purely scientific standpoint, it's undeniable the lad does something special with his fists.
And Conor is as fresh as a daisy. Maybe even fresher. He's stepped into a cage or a ring 19 times as a pro, so he has experience aplenty in the game, but he's only been outside R1 on 5 occasions. Only been 3 full rounds once. Not a lot of wear and tear there. No motorcycle crashes or chronic neck injuries either.
I'M JUST SAYIN' BOYOS!!!
Decent points raised, dude has seen quite a few 5 rounders.
So what is it exactly you're trying to say?
Op is an in denial Conor fan
Your boy getting starched sorry
Aldo has seen plenty of five rounders against tough, world class opponents. You are correct about this.
Conor has fought cans. Now he will be tested and in a fight for the first time.
Just sayin

You are correct that this is Conor's first real test.
Although beating Max Holloway even with a blown ACL is some kind of test, it has to be said.
Good post
never could understand when fighters say that their opponent is washed up and at the end of their career and that they will beat them. why would you be proud of that and brag about it? if you beat them in their prime then you can brag about THAT.

Apparantly he's just sayin
DalyDentedDecimated'sDome - Very good points. Especially about the 5'7" guys being the best physical specimens in fighting because no real money making sport is raiding their ranks for talent.Horse Racing.

Cans? You're obviously not a real fight fan if you think that.
Poirier- Was ranked number 5 and was tied for most finished in division when Conor knocked him out in 1rd.
Holloway- on a 5 fight win streak since Conor beat him.
Siver- Was 12-5 in the UFC when Conor beat him.
Diego Brandao- Ultimate Fighter winner.
They don't sound like cans to me.
You may not like McGregor but no need to be so disrepsectful to the fighters he has fought. Any one of which would make you their submissive bitch. Keep in mind McGregor pretty much breezed through all of these fights while barely getting hit.
Every single thing you just said made me confident about picking Aldo
One thing i agree with is that conor has never been in an all out war in the ring. Hes taken very little damage.
He does his weight cut professionally too which makes him fresher in the ring at a larger weight.
Regardless of what happens in the fight, those were very valid points made by the OP. Good post.

Yeah i forgot...lots of shredded, cog-diesel 5'7"s 145rs are being poached for horse racing.
I was going to make a post about this earlier. Each fight he seems to show more damage and look less impressive than he used to. While I think aldo has more skills factoring in the ground game but I think the talk will force him to stand and trade. The size difference on fight day will also factor. My heart wants to pick aldo but there's a lot that factors into this fight besides their skills.
There are actually very solid points. Was unaware of his neck issue but that is not promising at his stage of the game.
Don't know if this will all culminate in Conor beating him but it will definitely start playing a factor if he continues fighting.
Solid points but Aldo is either gonna:
A) Fuck him up as soon as possible.
B) Feel him for the 1st then kill him in the 2nd.
Angry Aldo is scary.

I feel like this is going to be Aldo's stratagy. He can't start slow against McGregor.
But looking at the best of Conor's opponent's, would Aldo have finished them quicker?
