A 205 fight while we wait for the MW division to produce a clear #1 Challenger.
ClassicMacGruber - A 205 fight while we wait for the MW division to produce a clear #1 Challenger.
Would watch!
Interested.
Anderson beats everyon at 205 except Bones.
I think Andersson would win, but he would have to use all his tools... Boxing with Alexander would be to dangerous! Low kicks, knees, kicks, elbows basically Muay Thai with a hint of Segal would do the trick.
What a fight though!!!! I would watch!
I would love to see this matchup, but Lombard should be the #1 if/when he beats Boetsch. Does anyone REALLY want to see Bisping fight AS when the guy cannot even finish a celebration without falling on his ass?
MMALOGIC - Anderson beats everyon at 205 except Bones.
Period. With maybe the line exception being Mousasi. Maaaaaaaybe :)
^ lone not fucking line.
StayRad - Wouldn't watch either, why set up Alexander for a loss with him
Being close to a title shot at 205![]()
Valid point, but you wouldn't watch because of that reason? You don't feel like it would be an intersting fight?

Anderson beats mousasi via muderdeathkill.
Nobody knows who Gustaffson is, fight makes no sense
Gustaffson is more well known now than Irvin was when Andy fought him at 205
RealTerry - Nobody knows who Gustaffson is, fight makes no sense
The guy is 14-1. 6-1 in the UFC. Chael was only 3-1 in the UFC when he got his shot and hardly a 'household name". He had 3 decision wins and a loss to a guy that Silva slutted. I remember most saying the Sonnen fight made no sense when it was first announced. The Silva fight MADE Sonnen a somebody, it could do the same for Alexander.

Just dumb. I mean, it would be an interesting watch.. But why throw a wrench in the cogs? If gustaffson won, What does that do for either division? If he didn't win, it throws the LWH off a little bit. Just isn't worth the mess, we need relevant fights.
Salokcin69 -Again, valid arguement. Just looking for opinions. But...why is this any more dumb or a bad idea and his 2 previous fights at 205 weren't? Did they really make sense when they happened? Did he have anything at all to gain by fight James Irvin??? What would have happened if he had lost either of those fights?ClassicMacGruber - A 205 fight while we wait for the MW division to produce a clear #1 Challenger.Just dumb. Is Affliction putting on an event that they need to counter program?

Sonnen had just gotten two top 5 wins over Okami and Marquardt. He deserved that shot
Flexo - Anderson beats mousasi via muderdeathkill
Mousasi has great defense, on the feet and off his back...guy never, ever seems to get hit.
Anderson would own him the least badly of other people he would own. Still see Anderson winning, probably handily, but Mousasi would be harder to hit and probably get the least-destroyed outside of anybody at 185/205 but Jones and maybe Machida, Shogun.
Shaq Attack - but mousasi was in k1 and k1 strikers cannot be beat on the feet
Where people always get confused with this "K-1 striker" BS is they confuse "was IN K-1" with K-1 contender or champ level striking.
Pat Barry was in K-1...but he doesn't have K-1 contender level striking, at all. There is no comparison between the striking of e.g. Barry and Hunt, even with Hunt being so far removed from his K-1 peak, as Hunt was K-1 champ level - not just a random kickboxer who happened to fight in K-1.
Mousasi wouldn't quite be a top K-1 contender either, but he's not too far off, certainly above Barry. Being the only guy to drop Kyotaro is no small feat, and he almost decapitated him.
Oh, and as for this fight...would be silly. Anderson isn't fighting Jones, and he would beat Gus up badly. Anderson would not have gone to decision with Thiago Silva.
Gus is badly outclassed at his best attribute. Anderson even has a greater reach than him (Gus' reach is short for his height). And Gus can't threaten grappling (Machida, Shogun, Mousasi all have pretty good offensive takedowns and ground games, and obviously Jones would ragdoll Anderson).
So, pointless fight, and it wouldn't be close at all.
205 isn't deep enough for them to have Silva kill off another contender
