That scenario, after played out, would mean Overeem defended that belt twice in 4 years
AND if that happens, does anyone really think The Fink will leave Fedor in a year long tourney to be a '#1 contender'?
Furthermore, if he gets in a plane crash, the belt will be on hold till they figure that out. They may even wait to find the little black box to find out the reason for the plane crash before handing out another belt. Then SF will have to attract audiences by other means.

rumor has it they will name Ray 'Sugarfoot' Sefo verses Valentine Overeem as the alternate bout.
I think they should replace Vaneltine with Mike Kyle personally.
I think Shane Del Rosario, Daniel Cormier, and Lavar Johnson might be in the mix too.

Easily the most exciting thing to happen in mma in years. Just such a shame there can't be a world tourney like this rather than being a strikeforce event so we could see the top 2 guys from the UFC ranks go and represent (not that blaf would allow obviously). That said winner takes all here and that man is uber IMO. Let's get a World Cup grand prix going for all major weight classes and hold it every 2 years. This alone would stop UFC monopolising and let us see the best of the best putting it on the line cross-orgs. Just sayin.

Oops, yeah. That's what I meant. Other than sanctioning, I can't remember the last major format/rules change in the U.S. .
