Thiago dominated Hironaka. I really think Alves is a top five striker at 170. Once he improves his takedown defense a little more he will be very tough to beat. Anybody else wanna see him fight Marcus Davis next?

Lots of the other top WWs might be able to grind out top position decisions over Mach but if Alves wants to bang with him, we got a good reintroduction fight for Sakurai.

No, he's 170, DeSouza and Hironaka are both 170 too.
Hironaka's striking never looked that great to me but he TKOed Charuto apparently and had some descent looking moments against Fitch so Alves must be no joke, plus he steamrolled DeSouza too and DS's a good wrestlers, id say Alves' td defense is good but maybe not good enough to keep it standing vs. Hughes, GSP, Diego, Karo, Kos, etcm yet.
