So over the last year or so, i've been training Shotokan Karate, as away to think outside the box, and do something different for shits and giggles after doing Muay Thai for 8 years.
And honestly, I love it! I've learned so much, with hand trapping, backfist, footwork, sweeps, how to do a side kick and other techniques, it's been really enlightening.
Anyone else have any positive success with this style? I think people don't see what it can offer them, and write it off automatically because they see what it doesn't offer.
I also think people write off traditional styles, in favor of the boxing/muay thai on the striking front, because of the learning curve. MT is very effective and easier to learn and apply their techniques compared to being proficient with Karate. But that just my opinion.
Thoughts? Observations?
