Anderson Silva's training partner and compatriot Junior Dos Santos was recently named as one of the coaches for season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he will pit his wits against fellow heavyweight Brock Lesnar.

Silva backed his friend to excel in the role of coach, stating: "His team will leave better fighters after training with him and the team."

ESPN then pressed Silva on the chances of seeing The Spider appear as a coach of a future TUF series.

"I love training with other fighters and would be honoured," replied Silva.

A lot of you guys are so stuck up your own asses you don't realize things.

1.
The guy doesn't HAVE to learn English, his job is to fight. The only reason he would HAVE to learn English is if he wanted more sponsorships with American companies, and obviously he is fine without them.

2.
If you were fighting in Japan, would you learn the entire Japanese language just because you fight there?
NO, you would learn the necessary things and that would do fine, unless you so chose to pick up the language and learn it well, which he hasn't chosen to do. HIS choice, not you stuck up pricks who cant handle hearing a translator or reading subtitles.

This is right up there with telling fighters when THEY should retire. For fucks sakes, let the men make their own decisions.

RyannVonDoom -  He's trying to set up Anderson vs Bisping TUF.. watch.

silva vs sonnen on tuf would be more entertaining.

I cant stand Chael Sonnen, but honestly he would probably make the most entertaining coach out of everybody, regardless who he was coaching against.

Don't be thick -- it's the fighters on the show that wouldn't want to deal with it.

If he is going to be on TUF his job consists of alot more than just fighting, and the ability to speak English is a necessity.

It would be great to see Anderson Silva as a coach on TUF. Be interesting to see how well he can teach up and coming fighters.

And for the record, Anderson Silva can speak english just fine. I met him briefly in 08 when one of his fighters fought at a local show here and my GF at the time sung the national anthem, so we got good seats and a chance to meet some local fighters. He said hi and asked if I was enjoying the fights. He has an accent of course, but I could understand him just fine.

dumb

anyone with a half brain can tell within the first 2 seconds of him speaking english he isnt comftorable doing it.

why doesn't anybody complain that any american fighters that fought in pride never learned any fluent japanese????

He didnt seem to have a problem speaking english with me when I met him in vegas, also understood my north east england accent, which the uk ug'ers will testify sounds like jibba jabba

If they were going to be the main figure on a Japanese reality show to a Japanese audience then they would have.  No one is saying he has to speak English just that to be on TUF it should be a requirement.
