Anderson's final few fights

If I could play match maker and things shake out how I think they will, These would be Anderson's final fights, before sailiing off into the sunset and into retirement:

Bisping beats Stann and faces Anderson @ Wembley stadium.  What do you think, could the Brits and Brazilians sell the place out?  Anderson Hendo's Bisping and adds another highlight to his grwoing list.  Meanwhile Weidman wins convincingly again and calls Anderson out.

Anderson ignores him and instead takes on Hector Lombard who comes off of 2 wins against Munoz and Paul Harris.  This fight takes place in Brazil and with a loaded card, it's done in a soccer stadium.  Chael/Wand takes place as well as Aldo trying to regain his title from Korean Zombie.  For good measure Mir/Werdum and Big Nog/Big Country round out the PPV portion of the card.  UFC cleans up at the gate and brings in BIG PPV buys.

After humiliating Lombard, Anderson rejects Weidman's latest call out and instead takes on Boetsch who has won an addition 3 consecutive fights since knocking off Lombard.  Anderson is widely criticized for ducking Wideman and although Boetsch certainly is worthy of a title shot, he is clearly no where near the level of Weidman who continues on his impressice tear through the middle weight ranks.  MGM is the site of this UFC card and again is loaded up with superb supporting cast including Weidman/little Nog up at light heavyweight.   The strategy being to showcase his skills in the next weight class up in order to force the UFC's hand and finally give his his due title shot.  Both Anderson and Weidman win convincingly and the brilliant fight build up is in place.  Anderson, 39 and showing signs of slowing down.  Wideman is on a tear.

The fight is hyped for months and the venue is Texas Cowboys Stadium.  In addition to defending the middle weight title, this is also Silva's farewell fight.  The undercard is unreal, including the return of Brock, (including his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame) Diaz defends his welter weight title and GSP finally stops with the 25 pound plus ewight cut and cruises into the middleweight divison for his first fight and it's against Chirs Leban.

If Silva faces Weidman for a title at any point in the future, the fight will need to be held in NY. Hopefully that far down the line we'll be able to watch a Main Event like this in MSG, Yankee Stadium, or MetLife Stadium.

"The longest reigning UFC champion defends his title for the LAST TIME in the first MMA even to be held at MSG."

If I read that anywhere, I don't know if I'd break something out out of joy or not but I'd be pretty excited.

The UFC want Weidman next, but not sure if Anderson is keen.

stopped reading after silva @ bisping in london. lol like that would ever happen. for what? to show 30 000 people live how miserable bisping fails?

I don't belive that for one minute.  The UFC is not interested in getting Anderson the best contender, they are interested in putting on fights that will draw good/great pay per view buys, especially the final few fights of his career.

The reality is that other than us hard cores, no one has a clue who Weidman is.  A fight right now against Anderson does poorly compared to what a fight against Anderson in a year or so would do after Weidman is built up and the anticipation is generated for the casual/main stream fan.  That is why I say Bisping is next, he has the most name recognition and Lombard following him.

Although Lombard took a huge blow to his  marketability, he is still a compelling and marketable fighter, he simply has to look good in his next couple of fights and he needs the UFC marketing machine behind him.

Keep in mind this isn't about who is best, this is about selling fights.  And Anderson wanting nothing to do with Weidman reflects this as well.  I don't believe for one minute that Anderson is ducking the guy, he is simply trying to generate the most PPV money for himself over the final few fights he has left.  And there's nothing wrong with that, after all he is a prize fighter.

Dana said if Anderson is ready to go and he could do a fight in a couple of months,he would try and do the Weidman fight.

Weidman gets a top name at Middleweight and fights Anderson after beating him, simple as that.

It answers all the Middleweights and nobody will argue it.

One more fight and put the promotional power of the UFC behind Weidman after winning, that way there's nothing to say.

Dana also said Tito is fightging Chuck, (for the 3rd time) that they were going to run Pride and UFC as separate entities, that regarding StrikeForce, it would be "business as usual", NY City would happen this year, etc.  I could go on and on with the "dana said" but the reality is he needs to say certian things in order to not tip their hand and promote their brand in the best possible light.

I'd take Belcher or Bisping but at this point almost any top name will do. The problem is that NOBODY thought Wiedman was going to trash Munoz like this and as a result they didn't put any power behind his name, so while WE all know he's good nobody else really cares. We need Wiedman in lights so that when they fight it's a big event. They can't afford for it not to be no matter how much the hardcore crowd wants it.

Gotta pay the bills.

Ha Ha and kudos on a fantastic GIF

weidman beats anderson.

anderson loses his "burger king money"

he moves to oregan and starts to train with Chael and Yushin to work on his wrestling.

I disagree.  Bisping fought Chael very close and if he takes out Stann, he gets gthe next shot by default.

 Well SCH,

Looks like Belcher and Belfort are almost set to fight....based off Belchers tweet. Not sure how that fits into your fictional novel, but that seems to be what is happening.

:)

Anderson will not win the next three fights in a row, no matter if Weidman is one of them.

Beautiful.  This clears the way for chael/Wand and Bisping/Anderson, shouuld the count prove victorious over Stann.

Beginning to play out nicely.

Bofbro - The UFC want Weidman next, but not sure if Anderson is keen.

trust me UFC wants Bisping next but he has to beat Stann...Weidman/Belcher winner then gets Ando/Bisping winner... Ando/Bisping in England will set Dana up $$ for retirement which he's been hinting at Phone Post
