Profound question.

Or you’re baked.

Op, have you ever been to El Centro/Imperial? It is right on the Mexican border. The area is mostly made up of Mexican's and spanish is the most common language. Especially in Southern California, Mexicans are extremely proud and loyal to "La Raza." It's not right or wrong, more just how it is. I do get what you're saying, but I don't think Andy has been disrespecful towards America so much. He is just typically proud of his Mexican heritage.

Being billed as Mexican allows you to freely absorb the entire latino demographic.

But also because he looks 100% Mexican and 0% American

Same with Cain. The funniest was that commercial for whatever UFC's primary cell service sponsor was, profiling Cain, listing words that apply to him, and when they said "patriot," they showed a close-up of Cain's mouth and he parted his lips to show off his Mexican flag mouthpiece.

I thought he must have been born and currently living in Mexico.

Yeah people showing pride in their heritage is just wrong.

You should disregard your thousands of years of ancestors and culture as soon as you cross the border. And when kids dont want to assimilate they should be bashed by someone yelling USA USA.

If he was a proud Mexican he would've respected the Mexican boxing tradition and actually trained for a heavyweight championship fight.

Canelo must be so confusing to people like OP.

He is no different to Irish an Italian Americans. Not all of them but I have ready many threads here, well over there in the OG.   About some people playing up there heritage, but have never even been back "home"

but sound straight out of the sopranos

I used to work with a guy like this. Italian guy. Very pro Italian about everything. Always bragging about how Italy makes the best cars, boats, motorcycles, etc - everything. Also about how superior he is because he’s Italian. The guy is a total douche and really hard to be around. Nobody wanted to be around him at work. He doesen’t refer to himself as an American, but an italian. Funny thing is that he’s never been to italy He’s only half Italian and doesn’t acknowledge his other half.

Ruiz actually boxed for Mexico in the Olympics.

But it is absolutely bizarre that a dude who was born and raised in the US, currently lives and trains in the US would say that he wants to win world titles for Mexico.

Logic has a similar complex, he's half black bald white but he doesn't talk about his white side.

I agree OP. I've never understood how so many people can be proud of a country that was so corrupt and shitty that they had to leave it, yet are angry at the country that gave them refuge and opportunity. The world is a fucked up place.

Mexico is so great but I don't wanna live there.

It’s over-compensating for the fact that their home country is a shithole. If they repeat over and over again how great it is maybe they might even come to believe it themselves.

Surely both sides have disowned him by now anyway?
