Another Legend Returns

PRIMO BEER, the popular made-in-Hawai'i lager that disappeared from local store shelves nearly a decade ago, will be available in bottles at select supermarkets, restaurants and bars starting Monday.

Pabst Brewing Co. revived the century-old beer in December by introducing a draft version of Primo at local restaurants and bars.

The bottled Primo will carry the familiar royal blue label of the 1960s and is a premium version of the beer that was once the state's best-selling brew.

"There's no denying Primo's popularity -- back then and today," said Brendan Burchfiel, owner of The Shack restaurant in Hawai'i Kai. "Primo's heritage is rich here in Hawai'i."

The bottled version will be available on Monday at select local stores, including Sue's Mini Mart, Ewa Pantry and Pali Bottle Shoppe. Over the next several weeks, Primo will become available at larger retailers and supermarkets, including Tamura's Fine Wine & Liquor and Fujioka's Wine Times, as well as bars and restaurants such as The Willows, Tiare's Sports Bar & Grill and T-Spot Hideaway.

Yes, but how does it taste?

a local brewery will handle it here locally so its not so bad that Pabst is associated with it.

cant wait.

Hwaiians don't even drink local beer. That's for the tourists, to think they're getting something special.

Only Steinies or Heinies for me.

In the 60's Primo was what all locals drank.

its a shame to because local brewrys are really producing GREAT fucking beer.

they are something special.

there were talking about that PRIMObeer in the news..seems like K.Leahey was stoked about it coming back. so i guess locals like it

Anyone know the Cost? Does it come with a knitted beer can hat!

Comes with that and a matching vest.

Primo is a primo disappointment.

typical lager in every way.

however if im in a pilsner/lager mood id probably go for it over everything else just to support.
