Another Newb Question - GI's

What is a good gi for competition purposes to buy? Anything particularly good for tall skinny guys? I am 6'2" and walk at about 174lbs and usually compete in mma and bjj in the 155lbs range.

Buy a cheap double weave and get it tailored if you are new to the sport. No sense is spending $150-$250 on your first one. If later you want really nice ones, it will make a great practice gi.

I have three double weaves I have bought for 40-60 each, got the tailored for average of $20 each and they are perfect.

Thank you for the advice. Do you have any brand recommendations? I am stil lused to buying the bjj gis so I am not 100% sure what to look for.

I think the manufacturer of my favorite one is out of business and I can't remember the name of it. I will have to look at the other ones.

judo inc. you cant order online, but they are by far the best for the $...

Goto the website hatashitasports.com. The owner Lia Hatahsita can help you pick out a gi that will fit your build. She will even send you different sizes for your jacket/pants if necessary. It is best to call her and give her your pant measurement req. from waist to floor and your build/weight for the jacket and she will help you find a gi that will suit you. She knows judo gis about as well as anyone in the US.

Thank you, guys. I am excited to get something I can compete in

Judges.com I have an adidas training gi that I've worn to every comp and every practice possible twice a week for 3 years still in amazing condition

The younger folks seem to like the Adidas gi's as well. One of our judo instructors sells them. I don't care for the bars along the shoulders. But they are an excellent gi.
