Anthony Johnson someone please explain

Why all this talk and the poll about him vs Matt hughes or Karo? This guy is no where near their caliber. Anthony was defeated by rich clementi. Now Rich is no slouch but he is a vetran and he showed that skill of a vetran can defeat Anthony. Why do people feel this cat can beat Matt or even Karo

Rich Clementi beat him for gods sake,

Shit put him against Melvin Guillard

Rich beat both of them

Young Black Athleticism at its finest balls to the wall until one gets KOed

What exactly do Hughes or Karo bring to the table that would give him much trouble? Neither guy could stand with him and they'd both have real trouble getting him down. Unless of course he takes the fight on 6 days notice like he did with Clementi. Eventually you guys are gonna have to come up with something better than "b b b but he lost to Clementi". Actually that argument doesnt even work now. You got something better?

sven must be mistaken....

Clementi took the fight on about 10 days notice, and Anthony knew before him. Rich had less notice than did Anthony

The hype on Johnson is a little premature.

Definitely looking forward to his next fight though.

This is partially correct. Anthony took the fight on 10 days notice,.... 9 days for weigh ins but Rich knew a little bit before time as he selected Johnson over Chris Lytle as an opponent. Rich just fought 10 days before the call while Johnson was just coming off an injuried shoulder and just started to get back in shape.

The main thing that people did not know is that during Johnson weight cut and hours before the weigh ins Johnson's body was was shutting down, and had to inform Rich management to agree on the catch weight as Johnson would not be able to weigh in or even walk.

Rich's concern was to get as low as possible because he did not want to fight some guy that was 200lbs on fight day. Therefore Rich requested during the agreeable catch weight that on fight day for Johnson be no more than 185 pounds and had to reweigh himself. Johnson had to agree or their match would have been canceled if all parties didnt agree. In fact Rich made Johnson re weigh himself over half a pound because he was suppose to be 177 and was 177.5.

Johnson until fight day was maintaining weight and was 183 during the final re weigh in that Rich requested. Johnson still says Rich was the better man and that he ll never be off weight again as it was very miserable. He knows its one match he ll never get to rematched.

maybe johnson should fight at 185 if he is having so much trouble making 170. i have heard rumors that he walks at 210.

Well, we would use the argument that "hey, Johnson beat Rich Clementi, which is a good win because Clementi is a tough veteran (even though he fights 155)", but we can't use that argument, because Johnson lost that fight.

 " soko? arona=quick ko,lil nog=quick ko,nakamura=quick ko"

He didn't KO Nakamura at all.

"
The guy has only had 6 fights.  So what if he lost to a vet like Clementi.  Give him time."

Yeah, give him time before saying stuff like "Karo and Hughes have nothing for him".

We all saw what happened to Houston Alexander...The End

cant just look at his record on paper, you gotta give him the eye test, actually watch what he does in the ring.

Hes a powerful striker with great takedown defense and thats a dangerous combo.

and boy is he athletic.

I have seen Houston... Anthony Johnson is no Houston Alexander...

Anthony Johnson may have been beat by Clementi, but he has also got to be one of the top three upcoming fighters in the UFC. I dont even think Alves could stand up with him, Matt hughes would be left for dead laying against the cage, staring off into the distance, like he had just been raped by a pack of water buffalo.

And the guy can wrestle. He is young and badass, he will only get more badass.

He's fast. He's huge for the weight class.

And

He hits people really fucking hard.

I don't think anyone's saying he's the 2nd coming, or an A level fighter now.  But he definitely has potential there, you have to admit that at least.

I just read that Johnson would leave Matt Hughes dead, would kill Diego, would outstrike Thiago Alves, and will beat GSP in less than a year. Sounds like these people are claiming he's A level (along with trying to tell us that he as a brown belt in BJJ, which is not true at all).

you guys are idiots Hughes would bring the same thing clementi brought a GROUND Game and hughes has faced good strikers in his career including GSP so how do you people see this kid doing anything different

Put him against Melvin Guillard and watch 2 athletic young guys throw hammers until some one falls. Both of them been beat by clementi in the recent past so what the hell

Put him against Guillard and hopefully they will knock each other out.

OMG! I just actually laughed out loud at being "raped by a pack of water buffalo"!

Still giggling!

Anthony Johnson is the most DANGEROUS STRIKER at 170.

He has huge potential, I think he has a even better frame at 170 than GSP. especially for striking
