Any news on Renzo's next fight?

Seriously? Wasn't he supposed to be fighting on the UFC Rio show in August?

He has 5 fights left on his contract (not a typo) and he's not getting any younger. Not sure who they would give him, but a rematch between he & BJ Penn  at 170 lbs would be fun to watch.

I have no desire to see Renzo ever fight again after that disgrace in Abu Dhabi.

It would be fun to watch BJ do to Renzo exactly what he did to Hughes last time they fought? 21 second KO's are cool and all, but I've got no desire to see that happen to Renzo.

I'm guessing it wasn't a guaranteed 5-fight contract. I doubt we ever see Renzo fight in the UFC again.

 I think it was.

They wanted to sign him to a standard 3 fight deal, but he talked them into signing a 6 fight deal instead.

Renzo looked good before he gassed against Hughes.

I'm not sure a rematch is likely, but I'd like to see it if Renzo is in top shape.

It is extremely, extremely unlikely. Just think about it. Is Dana White going to sign a contract guaranteeing a 43 year old man 6 fights at what was almost undoubtably 6 figures per fight? That would just be an insanely horrible business decision.

My guess is that, like most UFC contracts, the contract can be terminated following a loss.

Plus Renzo's schools make piles of cash, I don't really see him having a ton of hunger to fight.  He didn't look like he took his training for the Hughes fight all that seriously.  It was very slow paced and he still gassed terribly.

Ranzo has said he doesn't fight for the moeny, he fights because he likes it. I saw an interview with him prior to the Hughes fight. Interwiew was done by Ariel Helwani. I think the interview was done at Renzo's academy in NY.

Anybody else see this?

Not sure Renzo is being 100% honest there. If he just fights for the pure enjoyment of it, why has he only taken 1 fight in the last 4 years? It doesn't really hold water. Money is definitely a factor.

He has 1 fight in the last 4 years, he must not like it that much.

I am also sure he's getting paid quite handsomely by the UFC.

The only reason he fought in Abu Dhabi was because of his connections and helping the UFC get their.

I imagine Renzo to be very well off these days. I don't think he needs the money. He fights for the thrill, albeit with mixed results.
