Has there ever been another case when an athlete has been completely pulled from championship fight, game, etc over missing a press conference?
Everyone keeps giving examples of standard 9 to 5 jobs (i.e. if I skipped out on a meeting with my boss at Wal-Mart I'd be fired), but comparing a regular job that to one of a pro athlete doesn't make any sense.
With that said I think the UFC should've at least warned Diaz that'd he be pulled instead of just pulling him and denying fans of the super fight.
I'm just wondering if there have been any other cases like this in other sports? I know guys ditch out on press conferences all the time, but it seems crazy to me to pull a guy out of a championship over it.
what if lesnar is up in canada hunting where there is no cell phone service, he didnt tell anybody, and he misses 2 press conferences.
would dana give him the same treatment?
