I went to a college rugby game last weekend and had a blast. Now I want to start playing, are there any rugby players on the og that can help me with anything rugby related?
What position do u want to play?
yes
I played smear the queer as a kid what would you like to know?
Jimwilly - What position do u want to play?Probably a lock or a prop

Big-C-Note -So are you fat to tall. Prop =fatJimwilly - What position do u want to play?Probably a lock or a prop
Lock=tall..game is much funner in shape. Game time is very important. Get as much as you can; many teams have a b team or second side for that purpose

Theres a considerable difference in the ideal body type of a Prop and a Lock op. Props are usually as wide as they are tall - short (ish), strong, stocky types. While Locks tend to be exceptionally tall and athletic, not built like props but not scrawny either.
Props typically aren't short, but can appear that way due to their 'girth'.
Locks are typically the tallest players in a team and their specialist role is winning lineout ball.
What build are you? There are some props in the game exceptionally tall (Andrew Sheridan is 6ft 7).
It all depends on which position you enjoy playing more?
If you are broad with a very strong back I would go with prop. If tall with some athleticism and long limbs I would go lock.
Your coach should be able to help you with this but at the end of the day you have to enjoy what your doing more than anyone else.
I played rugby for 18 years and retired at the start of this season - I ruptured the ligaments in my ankle for the 3rd time.
I played in college for a few years. Fun sport and I wish there were club teams where i live now but the nearest is a few hours away. I started at wing but moved to scrum half my last year.
I played from the age of about 8 until 21, I played various positions but generally ended up playing lock as I'm tall, as others have said being lock your main roll is being lifted to win line out ball whereas props do the lifting, in the scrum props are at the front taking on the other front row where locks are binded behind.
Great game, tough on the body, you def need good cardio if you want to play properly, in the uk most non professional rugby teams all go out drinking after the games so it's a very sociable sport
I play Super 15 Rugby, what would you like to know bro?

Who do you play for?

Played for fifteen years in South Africa. Loved most of it but was always nervous as hell before games.
Played centre or fullback, but spent a season the flank which was quite fun.
Not sure about prop or lock. Most of my mates who carry injuries from rugby were in the right five (lock, hooker, prop) since u are under immense pressure in scrums and are expected to put in some huge hits in the loose and rucks.
If u have some pace try out for centre or flank but it does come down to body type and athleticism. Some back line players nowadays are as big as some of the forwards and vice versa
Tight five. Not right five.
