Any Suggestion On Gyms In Connecticut?

Im sorry if this is in the wrong forum

Hello everyone, im currently new to the forums but i have always been into MMA and now i have decided to take it to the next level and actually start training. Ive been looking around for quite sometime and have a few gyms in mind. I would just like to see if anyone has any info that could help me out. Thank you.

I will post the links to the gyms.

Here are the gyms im interested in:

Any info i could use would be helpful, for example if anyone knows who is recommended. I am new so you have to keep that in mind lol, but should i call or just walk into the gym to see if i can take a trial class. Basically how do i get started is what im asking. Sorry for being such a 10'er or sounding like a total newbie.
Thanks

CT has a lot of good schools. Where you located exactly and what type of school? MMA, BJJ, muay thai?

I train at Renzo Gracie CT http://www.renzograciect.com/ in West Haven, Mark Cerrone is a Renzo Gracie Black Belt, and Roger Ambrosi is a Brown Belt under Ryan Gracie/Daniel Gracie. The school is great, I suggest coming in for a free intro class and see how you like, if you have any question's feel free to PM me and i'll try to help you the best that I can!

We aren't far from you, and offer MMA, MT, BJJ, Wrestling(for BJJ/MMA)

Gaspare,

Do you have any amateur fighters out of your gym? I only ask because I am a match maker for a show in Western MA and I am always looking for new team.

I train in the CTMMA New Haven affiliate under Fabio Araujo. Roger in Fairfield is a great instructor, and he's always bringing in great guys. Here's the Fairfield schedule:

C3 is a great school, too, but might be a little long of a drive for you.

I'm pretty sure any school in the area will let you come in and try out a class or 2, so definitely check a bunch out and see which one is the best fit for you.

Good luck.
Greg

CTMMA produces some top notch student and fighters. I'm assuming their teacher is excellent by watching some of their fighters at local shows.

To Ya Mon:

My opinion, of course because I train with/under Roger and consider him a friend, is that he's a great teacher. Very knowledgeable. I would definitely say get in touch with him, or just go by and check out the different classes.

I'm not going to speak too much for him because I don't want to get anything incorrect.

BJJ-He's a black belt under Fabio, and has trained over the years with Renzo Gracie, Megaton, Marcio Maccarrao (7th degree Red/Black belt under Rolls Gracie), etc. He brings in guys like Roli Delgado (Ultimate Fighter vet) and Hillary Williams (world champ), Rousimar Palhares, Murilo Bustamante, Denilson Pimenta (world champ?) and a few more are in the works. Just had a few seminars with Carlson Jr. Also gets a lot of Catch Wrestling type stuff in when it's appropriate. I just spent the day at NAGA with him yesterday, so there's a lot coming up that I don't want to let out until it's confirmed.

He's trained for a long time under Paul Vunak who's one of the authorities on Jeet Kune Do. Don't stand too close when Roger picks up the sticks!!! I don't do any striking or MMA, but everyone tells me he's awesome with standup. Takes a lot from a lot of styles and breaks it down to what really works.

As far as competitors from the school- the last MMA show that we were represented at, our guys went 3-0. It was an ammy show in MA I think. We also have a heavyweight who's only got 1 loss as a pro, to Justin Wren from the Ultimate Fighter. Not sure how many wins he has....dude's passed my guard so many times it's not even funny.

So yeah- go check it out! Sorry for the FRAT.
