But my favorite is probably the Mexican Golden Red Rump. Super chill and really interesting coloring with the tan body, red butt and black legs. Plus I had it when it was the smallest out of all of them, like1/2" and it is now 4".
Not looking good for the Brazilian Redhead. His enclosure started to smell and I thought there was a fungus. Turns out that it was 4 dead crickets (and one buried live one) that was smelling up the enclosure. I thought he was still eating, but it looks like he stopped eating, which is the first sign that he is not going to live much longer.
He just wants to stay back under his house most of the time, so I will just give him water (which he still seems attracted to) and see what happens. If he wanted to escape and get out, I would release him, but he just seems to be hiding in his house for the most part. Bummer, he is the second one I got 3 years ago (Brazilian Blue is the first).
Fuck yeah, Brazilian Redhead finally ate after not eating for a few months. He’s not dead yet (been over a year since his final male molt with Pedipalps and Tibial Hooks). He’s eating this cricket now:
Took this picture today and me thinks the Brazilian Blue is a female. Not 100% sure, but that horizontal slit with no top upper notch tends to indicate a female (that’s her vag that the male rubs his jizz covered boxing gloves on).
Funny, this picture almost looks like an H R Giger drawing from Alien.
Just took this Pic of the Brazilian Black, it isn’t a mature male (as it doesn’t have the Pedipalps/Spider Wang) but it looks to have a small little up notch in the flap area indicating it is probably a male, but not 100% sure:
