Any thoughts on breaking hand in the belt grip?

A couple of the really good guys at my gym play sit up or butter fly and will grip the belt with one hand. Once they get that grip I'm pretty fucked its like a tractor beam pulling me in. I stymied on how to remove that grip or making any progress to pass if they have it.

Any thoughts?

Try to lock their arm out straight with a whizzer they'll either let go or get armbarred Phone Post 3.0

They're grabbing the front of the belt and pulling me in to their hooks not underhooking me and grabbing the belt in back.

Are you standing or on your knees?

Grab their knee and collar and work a pass when they grab your belt Phone Post 3.0

Lower your weight. Control the hooks. Pass.

It is going to be hard to torreando against it, but really it is just an overhook so get to headquarters with the same side as they have the belt grip (they have left hand on the belt, get your right knee forward). Dive an underhook and cross knee pass, keep your other one out for base if necessary.

You gonna get swep.

Usually wind up on my knees which is death with this grip.

Thats the approach I've been taking. Keeping my base and getting to headquarters is challenging. Even when I get all that that control its hard to clear that hook.

I've tried terrere flop with the grip style you suggest but that doesn't work well.

Guy at the gym uses this grip with a shin on shin butterfly sweep. Very hard to break that grip. In for ideas. Phone Post 3.0

I never thought about it or would even try and break it,if a guy wants a grip that bad he can have it.at least I know where one of his hands are and he wont be using it to sub me

Hip in a little bit and grab their wrist and turn it hard so that their thumb points downwards. Then hip out as you push their grip away from you.

Good advice from Muffinho.

If standing I would have said to hip in to keep posture and negate some of the effectiveness of the grip, then work on removing a hook and starting a pass.

One Armed Jack - Lower your weight. Control the hooks. Pass.

specifically by driving your collar bones into their shins and pinning the foot to their ass. You can grab ther belt/waste to secure that....After securing, you can pass by eg letting go of his waste with your right hand and reaching to grab his right leg pant.....Your left hand grabs his right sleeve (or lapel) and smear pass to that side.

When your right hand switches from his ass to his right pants, your arm should still be wrapped around his left leg with your collarbone into his shin... Don't make the mistake of reaching between his legs and exposing your back. Keeping your collar bone against his shin rather than your arm pits over his thighs really helps in this situation.

Try and stand, Kenaan shows a break for this I believe

Takes his forearm and goes under there wrist, creates a bar and pulls up on his own wrist to break I think
