And if he has said anything further about what he will do when his contract expires this summer?
Joe is important. They'll throw money at him. Hints of retirement are just good negotiation prep. Laying the groundwork.
Even if he retired, he'd be at the fights. Only, his seats wouldn't be as good and he wouldn't be paid to attend and he wouldn't have the inside access.
I can't think who could replace him. Chael or Bas maybe.
He's loaded up on dmt, lsd, trt, onnit brain power and deer meat so he can clear his mind and make a decision.
I dont blame joe if he calls it quits. hes almost 50 and got more money then all of us will ever see.
he says he would rather just do fight companions, better viewing from the comfort of his studio
I think he will be gone. If you notice he has been slowly getting faded out. He doesn't do the non-ppv cards now. He has been absent from more of the weighins too. I think the UFC is conditioning fans to what it will be like without Joe. If they just dropped him, it would be a sudden change. The way its going now, it will be more subtle and less people will notice the difference.
TFK_likatiga - He's loaded up on dmt, lsd, trt, onnit brain power and deer meat so he can clear his mind and make a decision.Genuine 'lol'. Voted up.

I'm hoping he does the right things and takes a step back. Truth is he has slipped big time over the years and struggles to keep his emotions and bias's in check. Fuck how many guys now does his company sponsor again? Conflicts of interest if I've ever seen one. Let the true A team Anik and Stann take the well deserved step up to the PPV's. They are by far the best commentary team that Zuffa have no doubt about it.
If schaub makes so much from his podcast then rogan must be making millions from his one.
I don't think his motivation has ever been money with the UFC.
I'm pretty sure he will stay because he loves the job regardless of the offer and likewise he will leave if it doesn't have the same appeal to him anymore regardless of the size of the package.

they'd replace him with someone they already use like Kenflo or stann

I think Kenflo and Bas would work fine together
If UFC is sold, new buyers will want to use the appointment as the face of the direction of the promotion.
This could mean no Joe, no Goldie and no Celeste.
Frank Mir would make an excellent replacement once he gets off the Roo.
Cormier

mada -Can Krusher - If UFC is sold, new buyers will want to use the appointment as the face of the direction of the promotion.I'm thinking along these lines as well. Rohan has said numerous times that he's friends with Dana and with Dana gone he wouldn't do the UFC. Now he's saying he's basically done at the end of his contract and it's well known that Zuffa has the UFC up for sale. Just my opinion.

You don't mess with the Rohan.
Mir, Barnett and Sonnen would make awesome replacements.
