How do you like it? I'm thinking of getting a black one, but I'm not sure if I'll like it.
I have HCK that is like an armour. I'd like a gi that not as rough. Would Gameness Pearl be a bit softer? Thanks.
I have both the pearl and a howard. I like the pearl a lot, at least the top. The pants were too short for me -- 6'4" -- but if you aren't tall that shouldn't be a problem. The pants are somewhat coarse and thick. The top is light and fit me the best of all the gis I've owned. Since it's a lightweight gi, it stretches out some during rolling and when it gets wet.
I'd buy one again.
Owning those two would give you a nice combo to switch up.
Thanks for the reply, vegard.
I'm 5'11, 175 and I'm hoping that A3 would fit me. I love the HCK pants so I might keep them while wearing Gameness jacket.
You may want to try a Gameness Featherweight. It is the same cut, but just seems to be a little more comfy. I sell both at my Academy and everyone seems to like the Featherweight best. I am 6' and about 175 and an A3 fits perfectly.
I have the Gameness Elite, a bunch of my training partners have the pearl. The elite is my fav by far. The cut is excellent, nice taper to the arms. The pants were way to short for me too (im also 6'4). The reason i didnt purchase the pearl (and why i wont purchase another gameness) is because of the ripstop pants. I hate those things. In short i totally recommend the gameness jackets.
I got a Gameness Pearl back in December, and it was a little too big for me (but A1 was the smallest size I could get). I tried to shrink it for 6 weeks, and finally had to sell it. I liked the feel of the gi top a lot, but the pants were ripstop (I didn't realize that when I bought it), and I'm not a big fan of ripstop pants.
Overall, I liked the gi a lot, but it was like training in my big brother's gi. I finally sold it to a teammate and bought a Vulcan (for twice as much).
I have to disagree on the feather and pearl being the same cut, I own a couple of both and the pearls are a bit baggier in the shoulders.
The Feather and the Elite are currently my two favorite gi's. Had a Pearl a few years ago and didn't like it so much. I am 6'1", 173, they fit me perfect.
I bought a blue pearl and I really like it. My next gi will be a pearl. At the $100 mark I can't think of any other gi that I really like. Fuji is there but it seems like it fits weird.
The gi does shrink so I hang dry my Gameness but it dries much faster than my Koral which is a plus. I didn't know that the Pearl was a "lightweight" gi, and I feel the pearl can take a lot of abuse. My pants are not ripstop, and didn't know pearls came with ripstop pants either.
I got an A2 and I'm 5'11" 170 and the gi fits me great.
I have a few pearls and they have never let me down they are by far the best gi's I have ever owned I have had about ever gi gameness makes and the pearl is the best for me I use it as my comp gi aswhile. I have had a vulcan and it was to big after about a month of wearing it. It streched out to mush and would not take its shape back so had to sell it. Im 5'10" 145lbs and a a2 fits fine.
I was just about to try and buy a Gameness Eilte Gi on their website but when I saw the graphics on it (is that a dog?) I decided against it. Can you get them without the patches?
Get a seamripper and take 5 minutes. It really isn't too much work, I don't understand passing on a good option just because there are patches.
Peoria Athletic Club - I have a pearl and if you air dry in you can sand the paint off your house... also the pants are way too short (Im 6'5")... but its a well fitting gi, I used it every week!
No kidding! If I air dry it I have to put some water on the collar so it doesn't scratch off my neck. Other than that the Pearl has a nice, no-frills gi jacket that really lasts.
I don't use the pants, since they were insanely baggy, heavy and uncomfortable, but I heard they've changed the pants since I got mine.
I'd give it a solid 7/10, with bonus points for the affordable price.
