I just recently bought an IPad and started dicking around with it. I'm honestly hooked right now with making various songs, ideas, riffs. I love how easy it to form a drum beat that is the tempo you want but also unique.
I enjoyed it so much I went out and spent $130 on the guitar dock unit, so now I can plug straight in and record. I was in a semi successful band and have had an entire album written that I never did anything with. Now I can at least record and compose the songs and maybe find like minded musicians.
Seriously loving this!
In for info. Just bought a scarlett 2i4 out of boredom a week ago.

Garage band is pretty cool. I don't use it because learning a new daw is so time consuming, but I wish I knew how. I use Reason and Sonar. I play guitar, some keys, and a little drums.
I use the Focusrite 18i20, and I'm pretty satisfied with their drivers. Latency could be a little better, but the pricing is very competitive.
I'd be down for making some music with a complete stranger.

I gotta admit, having a touch interface for it really simplifies the program into a weird kinda common sense but I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm doing everything I needed by accident kinda way. Apple nailed making it quick to learn and from there the skies the limit.
I wouldn't mind sharing my creations in a thread like this.

I haven't used it in a while but my guitarist was learning Logic Pro X while we did our EP and it seemed pretty daunting. Garage Band seems like it is more user friendly and I've been thinking about trying it out.
I've been helping him record real drum sounds to sample in some instrumental stuff he was doing for a movie. A lot of the midi drum tones we have come across just sound too fake. I would give it a shot if you ever come across the opportunity.
I use Logic Pro which is the deeper version of GarageBand. It's great. Much easier to use than protools. The drummer is awesome for songwriting. You'll have fun with GarageBand. You could easily record an entire high quality album with it.

Me too, and agreed. GarageBand is basically a stripped version of Logic Pro. There are several records in rotation that began/spent some time in/were completed with GarageBand.
Can I get Logic Pro on iPad?
I bought the iJam which allows you to plug a bass or a guitar.
The amps, pedals, and effects are endless.
I like funk set-up with the "fuzz" pedal.
Retired Blue Belt - Can I get Logic Pro on iPad?
I'm pretty sure only on the new iPad Pro.
Powdered Toast Man - I bought the iJam which allows you to plug a bass or a guitar.May be a dumb question... Is it called iJam or something else? I see the apogee jam... Is that the same thing?

I've been just fooling around with the fake instruments. Here's a couple with me singing though

Great product, worth every penny.

Also, you can output from the iPad to an amp...
So, I got a nice little set-up:
Bass plugged into the Apogee Jam.
Jam plugged into the iPad with GarageBand.
iPad output to a guitar amp.
Drum machine into the aux input on the amp.
Sony MDR-7506 headphones.
Tons of fun.
New favorite amp on GarageBand is in "processed", you'll find "strobe light"...add the fuzz pedal...sounds AMAZING!!!
Figured I'd upload the demo of my first electronic song I've ever done. I put this together in 15 minutes, nothing amazing.
Could a blue that's more knowledgeable than me imbed my video please?
