Anyone else think that Forrest looked like crap?

I though Forrest looked fine and same as always no different to me.

I think he's actually strong in all areas, he just lacks the physical gifts to be exceptionally dangerous. But he outwrestled and outgrappled Shogun, his takedown defense looked strong against Tito, he outstruck Rampage for most of five rounds and outstruck Rashad for two and a half, etc. And his workrate is second to none. You can tell he's as tired as his opponents are, he just pushes through it and they don't.

Absolutely true. Tapping out Shogun (who's been submitted all of ONCE before that) and destroying him standing is not small feat.

People just hate him because he's a TUF fighter and he's destroyed a PRIDE sweetheart.

I thought forrest looked good, one of his better performances. He isn't a fast guy.

I thought Forrest looked good too...not sure what everyone is bitching about.  I think he would have finished Tito if it had been a 5 rounder instead of a 3 round fight.

He was much slower and sloppier than he has been in previous fights. No 'snap'.

not a fan of either fighter and last night just reinforced that for me

that teep to the face was awesome.

It's an insult in muay thai when a fighter teeps another to the face.

Forrest only had 5 or 6 weeks. Even though he's usually in shape, that's still not enough time to do the full camp and peak properly. He also closed hard at the end. Forrest will usually look tired but have a second wind. I thought he performed very well considering the preparation time and also Tito was likely to take him down early and grind on him.

I also thought Forrest did very well. He got out of the bottom from a guy, layoff or not, who has very good top control and ground and pound. Forrest's punches also seemed to get through Tito's solid defense, better than the first fight, and he was also able to mix in good kicks despite the threat of a takedown. Despite the short notice, he was still able to finish strong on top of that. No, he didn't look like a world-beater, but wrestling is Forrest's weakness, and he fended off a pretty big, capable wrestler for most of those 15 minutes.

superCalo - Forrest is not a atheltic person let along a athlete. But he had the mental toughness to win through fights when he didn't have the ability of his opponent, that mental toughness has taken a knock and so now he was able to rely on the fact that despite his limitations he was better than the high school wrestler Ortiz.

I think he's pretty athletic. Did you see him killing jump shots in the TUF challenge against Quinton?

"Forrest is not a atheltic person let along a athlete."

One of the most retarded things I've ever read about Forrest, lol.  Dude is a great athlete.  Play some one on one, or even try and defend him in a game of football.  He could have been a walk on at UGA for football, imo.  He did gymnastics as a kid too.   I used to run into guys in athens that he'd played basketball with and they all said he was really good.

His striking did not look as good as the Evans,Rashad and Shogun fights...A.Silva has stolen his MOJO

Forrest always appears sloppy. It's just an awkward style of his, but that "controlled chaos" he fights with is what makes him so fun to watch.

rock1775 -  forrest looked better than tito

Give me a break. If Forrest isn't an athlete, very few guys around are. He's not as explosive as guys like GSP or Johnson, and isn't an college wrestler, but the guy is certainly an athlete. He's strong, durable, has great cardio, is a huge LHW, can strike and grapple, and looks extremely coordinated in other sports. Non-athletes couldn't even make it through 1/20 of Forrest's training, let alone fight like he does.

Forrest musta known he could have lost rd 1, thus a decision. He had an opponent pretty much just standing in front of him throwing nothing, and moving not much faster than a sloth does. Despite this, Forrest never hurt or rocked Tito during the round.

As people have said, both are done. They will never compete for a title again.

ChokeEmOut -
Shogun with no ACL....Forrest is not an explosive athletic guy..he lacks KO power, is somewhat sound in all aspects but at this point seems to be the kind of fighter who will pepper his way to a decision against solid competition, otherwise he would finish lesser fighters.

Just like Tito's severed spin and split skull.

Excuses don't mean shit.

He did seem to be 'pushing' his punches. His leg kicks lacked some of his usual power. But as he said, he's coming back from a tough fight where Anderson 'broke him'. Give the guy a chance to recover. I think he fought somewhat conservatively, which was a good game plan.

i dont recall shogun saying he was 100% before the fight

WhiteWhale - u have to remember that everyone sux and Fedor is  good

 Here, fixed that for ya...
