Obviously I am researching online but there are always some knowledgeable people here. My dad is 64 and needs surgery. He basically has no income. If he were to come live with me and apply for WA state's version of Medicaid, do you know if they require him to put down my income? Just not sure if they count the entire household or only if you are supporting them.
Yes they would... It's household based
According to this it is just tax dependents:

I doubt he needs to tell them he's living with a son/daughter. Just tell them he's doing odd jobs in exchange for a room. I don't think your income should have anything to do with it.
They would only look at your income if you are claiming him as a dependant. Best thing to do would be for you to write him up a lease and have him apply for state benefits as well so there's a record of his income if he doesn't have any.

Yeah I was thinking about the lease as well if I really have to. Thanks guys!
He should have "some" income but it is below the poverty line. He is living on early Social Security out of the country but he needs to get treatment here in the states.
Oh and what state benefits? Like Welfare? I guess I hadn't thought about that but he might qualify.
I had a friend around your dads age get emergency medicaid for cancer treatment and it wasn't too hard of a process. Hope it all works out for you.
Thanks man.
