Anyone notice

Episode 3 of 3 on Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans, professional driver Andrew Lally sporting a GJJ Submission Series shirt. Wonder how many other professional athletes are taking up BJJ?

I know most of you probably aren't car guys but I was a gearhead WAY before I even knew what BJJ was.

Anyway, there's my dork post of the day.

I train with Andy, aka McLally. Good dude, even if he is a wacky vegan and I always tell him you can't trust a man that don't eat meat.

When I saw that reality series I texted him and asked if he was going to be in it and told me he was. He also told me that he was in another one as well. Supposed to be letting me borrow the DVDs.

Gonna send him this thread.

Also, there is another racer, Ryan Eversley, that used to train with us. He moved and supposedly is training at another gym now, but I can neither confirm nor deny that.

I also train with Andy Lally and his 7 Rolex watches :0

He's a very strong blue belt, fast learner and great competitor Phone Post 3.0

Should also mention Andy's buddy, and Contenintal series driver Ryan Eversly also trains. He's also a great blue belt, fast learner, competitive guy... And none of that pesky vegan baggage to go with it

I kid I kid... That was solely for the benefit of Lally reading this. Phone Post 3.0

Ryans gone?

Andy is a true student of jiu-jitsu. He's not just farting around. He us serious about learning and improving. Phone Post

What do you mean Ryan's gone? I hadn't been in there in a while, but I don't recall approving any departures Phone Post 3.0

Crap Wizbang....stupid iPhone app! I accidentally voted you down when I was trying to quote u.

I will come back in 24 hours and vote u up again to make it right Phone Post 3.0

Andy is a great guy, and a total adrenaline junkie. On top of racing cars and BJJ (he has actually competed) google his name and street luge. Bunch of us from the academy went to NASCAR to watch him race at AMS two years ago.

That's awesome.

After starting a family I had to make a decision to give up/postpone sports cars & amateur racing. Wound up starting bjj & judo to keep my mind off of it. Still sneek in an endurance race here and there on tv & took my then 2.5yr old boy to inaugural of American V8 Supercars at Laguna Seca.

Feel like a drug addict as every time I go to one of these events the "bug" bites haha. That is the cost though of saving to put my boy through college & to be able to retire comfortably. Luckily bjj & judo tick many of the same boxes as performance driving just not to the same level. Which at the root is probably the reason I haven't turned the corner with my bjj(just a blue) fun but not a passion.
